We spent today in 3 different states: Washington, Idaho, and Montana. We planned a shorter day of driving, which was good because we were going through the Rockies today. Temperatures were still warm, probably in the upper 70s or low 80s.

Thursday in OR
Mark suggested I spend my last night here at Mom’s house. If my pictures look different from usual, it’s because I can’t get into the internet on my laptop to use my usual editing program so I’m using one that comes with Mom’s computer. It doesn’t do all the things I’m used to being able to do, but it’s better than no pictures at all!

This morning, Mark had put a collar and leash on Tucson to take her out and do her thing, but she got spooked by something and wouldn’t go out. He left the collar and leash on her when he left to get Mom and told me not to take Tucson out before he got back. Mark took Mom to the DEQ to get her license, but the line was so long that Mom decided to try again tomorrow and get there before they open, so Mark headed back to get me.

Today was our shortest travel day so far, but it was our most beautiful as well. I haven’t spent a lot of time in southern Oregon, so I’m guessing at the names of some of the things I pictured below. If anyone can correct me, let me know!

Last time, I left you with an image of our pantry and food all over the floor. Mark worked hard to rebuild it.

Today was Mark’s 69th birthday, so as has become a tradition for us, we went to Tombstone to celebrate!

A week ago today (Friday), I got vertigo and I’ve had it ever since. There was so much I wanted to do to help Serenity get ready this week, but I was unable to. She and Jose did a magnificent job of preparing everything they could in advance. Serenity’s sister, Katie, and Katie’s fiance, Adam, flew in from Wisconsin yesterday and helped wherever they could. Still, we had thought we’d have plenty of time to get everything set up and do a trial run for the technology today, but we ended up doing most of that at the beginning of the wedding. We had Zoom and WhatsApp to set up and everyone was very patient. I told Serenity that if there weren’t any problems during a wedding, there would be no stories to tell for years to come!
Continue readingMeeting Jose
Today, Mark and I drove up to Phoenix (Serenity had gone up earlier in the morning) to meet Jose and help him pick a suit for the wedding. When we got there, Serenity introduced the two men and they immediately went into the store without us women. I chalked it up to male bonding time!

I was so proud of Tucson! The desk clerk last night was skeptical about having a German Shepherd in the hotel, but Tucson barely made a peep in the room. That’s not to say she didn’t try, but every time she started to growl or acted like she was about to bark, we shushed her and she obeyed!

I went to church this morning and asked for prayer for Mark’s last day on the road. All afternoon, Tucson seemed kind of antsy, like she knew he was supposed to be arriving today. Both of us were listening every time we heard a motorcycle. Finally, this evening after 5:30 we were outside waiting for what we knew had to come at any time, and we were rewarded with the sound of a motorcycle turning into the church parking lot. When Mark rounded the corner of the church, I squealed and skipped over to him with my arms open wide! Tucson ran to him too, but I beat her there!
