Women’s Hawaiian lunch

I had volunteered, about a month ago, to be on a planning committee for some events at my church, and the first one was a Hawaiian-themed lunch after church today. The pastor’s wife, Allie, and I collaborated on decorations and she ordered a couple kinds of meat and then the women brought salads and side dishes and desserts.

Birthday in Tombstone

Thank you to those of you who have asked after Mark’s health. This morning, I had him scheduled for a one-hour massage, and when next I saw him, he was looking very mellow. He said that the massage therapist worked on his wrist, which has been hurting since his fall, and it feels much better.

NW Community Friends Church – then and now

On May 10, 2010, an arsonist torched the NW Community Friends Church in Tucson, AZ. It is for this reason that the church lets us live behind the building when we are here. They are happy to have someone on the property at night to keep watch on things and they built several RV spots behind the church so that RVers could stay here.

Overtime

Nothing particularly interesting has been happening for a while, but this week I have a quick report to make. My boss and her daughter who is one of our receptionists have Covid, so both of them are out for the week. Another of our receptionists is out sick, I’m not sure if it’s with Covid or not, but she’s been out since last Saturday. A third receptionist is having surgery this Thursday and is staying home so as not to get sick before then. The fourth receptionist is in college and covered for the weekend last weekend, but can’t come in during the week. One of our tax advisors covered the front desk today and will be covering it again tomorrow. So I have been going in from 10:00 in the morning until 7:00 or 8:00 the last couple of days, and yesterday was supposed to be one of my weekend days. Besides my usual work, I am also helping with the phones and covering the desk in the evening when the other receptionist goes home. Please pray for health in our office!

Honey, I’m ho-ome!

I went to church this morning and asked for prayer for Mark’s last day on the road. All afternoon, Tucson seemed kind of antsy, like she knew he was supposed to be arriving today. Both of us were listening every time we heard a motorcycle. Finally, this evening after 5:30 we were outside waiting for what we knew had to come at any time, and we were rewarded with the sound of a motorcycle turning into the church parking lot. When Mark rounded the corner of the church, I squealed and skipped over to him with my arms open wide! Tucson ran to him too, but I beat her there!

Garden party!

As I predicted, I had a really bad reaction to the booster shot I got on Saturday. I had a fever, chills, fatigue, and a bad headache. If you haven’t had your booster shot yet, don’t let me scare you. I have heard that most people don’t have any problem other than soreness in the area where the shot was given. As a result of my symptoms, though, I wasn’t able to make it to the garden dedication yesterday, but my dear, sweet husband borrowed my phone and got pictures for me. A big “Thank you” goes to Mark for that!

I come to the garden alone

The dedication for the new garden at my church, NW Community Friends Church, is tomorrow, and I’m hoping to make it there; but I got my booster shot today and, not knowing how I’ll feel tomorrow, I decided I’d better get some pictures today. If I’m able, I’ll try to get pictures at the dedication.

From Tucson, AZ

We actually arrived in Tucson last evening, but one of our slideouts was broken so that we couldn’t open it, and we couldn’t find the hotspot in the jumble of things packed into our tight space. Mark managed to fix our slideout today and found the hotspot. It’s so handy to be married to an RV tech!
