Last night, we parked behind Cracker Barrel, so this morning, Mark was eager for me to get up so we could go in and get breakfast.

From Springville/Layton, UT
It’s been another bitterly cold day with strong headwinds. It has taken me a while to get my pictures from today processed and it’s late, so I’ll try to keep this short.

Mark and I heard, incorrectly, this morning, that the highway was closed between Pendleton and La Grande, so we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to leave Pendleton. About mid-morning, Mark talked with someone who said that the highway was open, so we cautiously set out. We were going to try to get some tire chains, but the tire store was closed for New Year’s Day. We made it here, so it turned out OK.
Continue readingA very family Christmas!
I mentioned at Thanksgiving that I miss the kind of family celebrations we used to have when my older sister, Sherill, was still alive. This Christmas was almost like old times!
Continue readingThe Christmas pageant
I had been looking forward to going to Rise Community Church all week because they announced last week that there would be a Christmas pageant put on by the children in church today. I haven’t seen a Christmas pageant in years!

Last time, I posted a picture of Tucson in an extra-large vest that hung down to the floor. Today, I made some alterations…
Continue readingA coat for Tucson

A week or two ago, I found a dog coat that was labeled Extra-Large, but when we tried to put it on her, it was too small. I thought I was going to have to make her a dog coat, so I went to Goodwill today to look for something I could adapt.
Continue readingA beautiful funeral
Today was the day for Phung’s (pronounced Foam) funeral. She had asked everyone to dress as though they were going to a wedding, and the funeral itself was beautiful. Even the weather turned out to be lovely though cold.
Continue readingFrom Lincoln, NE
This morning, Mark and Tucson and I walked around the park we found ourselves in when we woke up. I had hoped we were on the edge of the Mississippi River so that I could dabble my toes in it, but we couldn’t get close to the river due to Mud Lake being in the way. However, the pictures I got were the only ones I got today, so enjoy…
Continue readingFrom Sherrill, IA
I love the name of this town, although it’s spelled a little differently from Sherill’s name. This is the name Mom derived Sherill’s name spelling from. Sherrill is located due north of Dubuque by a few miles and is situated right on the Mississippi River. We saw the reflection of the water in our headlights as we pulled in. Otherwise, it was completely dark outside!
