Last night, Mark and I invited our neighbor, Kiki, to a campfire as a last hurrah.

Supportive friends
I haven’t particularly felt any grief over the loss of my father; whether it’s because I left no unfinished business with him when I flew back to Tucson, whether it was because I knew when I left Oregon that I would probably never see him again and said my goodbyes then, or because I am in shock and it doesn’t seem real yet. But I have received a lot of support and condolences from my friends. Thank you to those of you who have sent me cards and condolences too!

Something to do
Yesterday, Mark told me he and Pastor Adam were going to go out to a site to look at some steel that’s being donated to the church. I asked if I could go and he asked why I wanted to go. When I got to Dad’s house this morning, he was having some problems. He said that he felt weaker than he has before and he was feeling dizzy. He said that if he’s going down this rapidly, he doesn’t think he has long to live.

The first couple of mornings after Dad got home from the hospital, I got up first thing in the morning to start helping to take care of him, but I was getting behind on my quiet time with the Lord, so I have gotten back to spending the first part of my morning in my room reading my Bible and praying. I think that time has been important for self-care and helping me focus on what’s important throughout the day.

This morning, my sister and her family came over to help take Dad to church along with his wheelchair, but by the time we finally arrived, the congregation was singing the last worship song, and then they were having Mission Sunday. Dad was disappointed that it wasn’t going to be a regular church service, so after about 20 minutes of being there, he decided he wanted to go home. There was a clan gathering to get ready for.
