Mark and I went to the Good Friday service Friday evening. There weren’t very many of us at the service, but I got hugs and condolences from the ones who were there.
Saturday, Lauryn and her family went back home to southern Oregon.
My church has a free boutique in one of the sheds on the back parking lot. Two women from my church were working there on Saturday, so I joined them. There’s a big bin that people donate stuff in, mostly clothes, so we were sorting through the clothes, throwing the worst things out, and putting things that were pretty good up on hangers on the racks. I saw a lot of nice things that I wanted. That’s where I’ve gotten some of my best clothes!
Easter Sunday, my church was packed! There was a sharing time right before the service started, and I mentioned that Dad had died on the Monday of Holy Week, and I found significance in that because it reminded me that there is a resurrection coming! Lots of people came up to me afterward, even people I don’t know, and offered condolences, hugs, and even a couple of cards. I am so glad to be part of such a caring church family!
There was an Easter Egg Hunt for the children, although the eggs had to be hidden under cover because it was raining quite a bit. There were also all sorts of yummy treats to eat.
Then Mark and I went out to Golden Corral for lunch. That place was packed too. While we were there, Kader sent me a couple pictures of her and Zak all dressed up for Easter.
Today, I had my quilt and craft group. Mark finished recovering the third dining room chair for our RV. Unfortunately, I’m about a yard short for the seat fabric for the 4th chair, and when we looked last week at 2 different Joanne’s stores, neither of them had it. I had bought the fabric last year, so I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to find more. 🙁
While he was working on that, I was working on making a prayer shawl for a woman in my church who lost her husband in December. I had already made her a memorial pillow to squeeze when she missed him, and this will be like having his arms around her.
There’s also a young girl, eight years old, who comes with her grandmother to the quilt and craft group. Her grandmother was making some fabric squares with trailers on them like what I do for my Wanda’s Journey items. I asked Kayleigh if she wanted to do it too. She said she did, so I spent quite a bit of time helping her make 2 placemat-sized rectangles with little VW bugs pulling the trailers. She was very proud of them!
Remember, The Longest Day fundraiser is coming again on June 21st!
