I’m preaching!

Here’s a link to my church website: https://tucsonfriends.churchtrac.com/

Pastor Adam at Northwest Community Friends Church asked me to preach on Colossians 1:3-23 this Sunday. If you get this post on April 7th at 10:30 Pacific/Arizona time, you can scroll down the page of the above link until you come to “Worship Online”. Click on that and you can watch me live. If you don’t see this post until later and want to watch the recorded service, scroll further down the page until you see “Missed a Service?” I’ll probably be about half an hour into the service.

Earlier this week, Adam gave me my membership interview. Adam said that Mark and I are so regular that we are practically members without going through the process of applying, but it’s a requirement of Friends Southwest if I want to become a commissioned minister at my church. Friends Southwest is in charge of all the Friends churches in the southwest part of the US. I thought the process might be more involved, but after Adam asked me a few questions, he said I’m officially a member!

Also, yesterday I got my fingerprint card in the mail. I had gotten myself fingerprinted before I flew up to Oregon to be with Dad. Fingerprinting is also a requirement of Friends Southwest. I have filled out the application for becoming a commissioned minister and probably would have had time to go over it with Adam by now if I hadn’t flown to Oregon. Starting Monday, the 8th, Adam is going on a much-needed 3-month sabbatical, so the rest of the process probably won’t happen until next fall now.

In the meantime, Mark called me out this evening to see a weird phenomenon in the sky:

Space X

It was visibly traveling fairly quickly. Our neighbor here in the parking lot behind my church said that it’s launching satellites from California! My cousin said that the booster can land itself back on the ground vertically. What will they think of next?
