Memorial garden
I was driving myself to church this morning and I passed through Bailey’s Harbor where they have a Sunday Farmers’ Market. As I was driving slowly by, I noticed that they had a kind of hydrangea for sale that I have been wanting for the last several years. The flowers are cone-shaped and they go from white to a deep pink.

Have you ever wondered about your first crush? Where are they now? What’s become of them? Would they remember you if you contacted them? Over the years, I have.

As you may recall, yesterday Mark had to stop trying to pull out that bush by the clothesline because a piece broke that was holding the chain. Today, he went to the hardware store and bought something sturdier for pulling out stumps, and he started out with a stump in the front flowerbed where we cut down an ugly bush our first summer here.

When I got home from church today, Mark was taking out a bunch of overgrowth and weeds in the front yard. I was pleased to see it, but I also told him that there are things in the back yard that I’ve wanted to have done for the last year or so. He followed me to the back to see what I was talking about.

Continue readingRIP Dobby
Fifteen years ago, toward the end of my first marriage, I saw an ad posted on the bulletin board at work for a kitten that needed a good home. The kitten’s name was Dabé. He didn’t look like a Dabé to me. He had huge ears for his little body and reminded me of Dobby the house-elf in the Harry Potter stories, so I named him Dobby.
Continue readingAll work and no play…
Today, Mark was home and Ashton was here so we did some work and we did some play! Ashton and I have been starting out each day by watching an episode of The Chosen about the life of Jesus. If you haven’t seen it, you can get it on your computer by googling The Chosen and Episode 1 or whichever episode you are on. I highly recommend it. It’s the best portrayal of Christ I’ve ever seen. He has a twinkle in His eyes!
Continue readingWhat a week!
A man in my church has a grandchild named Ashton who came for a two-week visit starting during the 4th of July weekend. Gene and his wife work all week and he didn’t want Ashton to be home alone, so he asked if Ashton could come to my place while he works. I readily agreed!
