I was told tonight that I need to post a new blog entry. I don’t have anything earthshaking to report, but here’s what’s been going on and why my posts have been a bit more sparse lately: Continue reading

Reunion recap
The day that Mom and I returned from Klamath Falls, I spent the night with my older sister Sherill, but I was too exhausted by the end of the day to write. Then yesterday I flew home and there was the long drive home and the reunion with Mark, so I didn’t get to write. So after my first day back at work, I’ve decided to do a recap of the highlights of my trip out west. Continue reading
Death and life
What a day! I went to a memorial service this morning and my 40th high school reunion this evening. Here is what I learned… Continue reading
From King City, OR
Aunt Marg made me a breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast with her homemade strawberry jam and then helped me get ready to leave. I have been using a method I first saw on an infomercial on TV. I stuff everything into a large plastic zip lock bag and seal it up. The bag has a round opening where I put the end of a vacuum hose and suction out all the air. Then I can stuff the bag into a duffel bag and carry it. Pretty ingenious! Continue reading
A day with Aunt Marg
I slept in this morning after having a less than stellar night of sleep, but then I had the first real shower I’ve had in over a year. Those of you who don’t live in an RV may not understand what I mean by a “real” shower. The water heater in our RV is something like six gallons, so while I’m lathering up I have to turn the shower head off. It’s always a luxury to be able to stand in a hot shower throughout the time I’m washing. Continue reading
From De Pere, WI
I’ve been remiss in writing since we left Minneapolis last week. When we first got to De Pere (just south west of Green Bay, WI) we had a couple deadlines hanging over our heads, and when we managed to get those done, there didn’t seem to be much to write about. Continue reading
From Minneapolis, MN
We arrived in Maple Grove, Minnesota where our KOA is and checked in on April 9th. We paid for our site and for a cabin a short distance from our site, got the key and a space heater for the cabin, turned the space heater and porch light on, and locked the door. The cabin is for my son, Jamey, who was just finishing up a work conference at the University of Minnesota. He had spent the two nights of his conference in a hotel, so he called us when it was over and we went to pick him up. Continue reading
Nauvoo, IL
OK, so here is a little LDS history: Joseph Smith first brought his followers to a swampy bend in the Mississippi River and named the area Nauvoo, a Hebrew word meaning “the beautiful location”. They drained the swamp and began building a well planned town, the second largest in the west at the time. Chicago was the largest. Continue reading
Last hurrah in San Antonio
I haven’t written in a while because my laptop hard drive began to fail and we took it in to get backed up and have a new hard drive put in. Unfortunately, the backup couldn’t capture everything I had on the old hard drive so I’ve been having to rebuild my computer. The last couple days we’ve been busy seeing about the last of everything we wanted to see while we’re here, so I have pictures to share: Continue reading
Starting the New Year out with new things
When my nephew, Nate, was young, my sister Lauryn decided to do the gift giving on New Years Eve so that the family could focus on Christ’s birth on Christmas. She figured it would be appropriate to start the New Year with new things, so the biggest family party of the year has ever since been New Years Eve with Lauryn as the hostess extraordinaire. The food was always fantastic, but the biggest event was the gift exchange, especially the white elephant exchange. Her parties were always the highlight of the year. Continue reading
