Last week, when we went to pick Merih up from the place he is staying, we noticed he was talking with a beautiful young woman outside his room. At the Bridges event last night, he introduced her to us. Her name is Kader (pronounced Keh-DAHR) Sirtikara. Continue reading

Bridges event
I mentioned before that Mark and I are Bridges parents to Merih Bayirli. When we dropped him off at his place last week after the play, he asked if we’d be at the Bridges event this week. He seemed to want us there, so Mark and I went. Continue reading
The floor is in!
Saturday evening, Mark put the adhesive for the bathroom floor down. The bucket of adhesive said to wait until it wasn’t tacky anymore to lay the linoleum on it. By Sunday morning, it was still tacky. Continue reading
All God’s critters got a place in the choir…
First I’d like to say a word about my pastor, Nancy Bontempo. She will be leaving in a week for a clinic in Chicago that does a combination of whole body and traditional treatment. I believe she said she’d be there for five days while they have a team of therapists from different specialties examine her and ask her questions about her diet and exercise and mental attitude and such. She will be staying with a friend who has offered to take her back and forth to her appointments, so she doesn’t have that kind of expense to worry about. However, her insurance will only pay for any traditional therapy she gets. She is attempting to raise $50,000 for the rest of her treatment and has started a GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/nancy-bontempo-fighting-breast-cancer?fbclid=IwAR13FnmbqhcqhgqZvqZc98yIDWGHzhHaHIs6gTkNG1REQw2Kri8rjXCojPI. I don’t usually ask if my readers would like to help with things like this, but for her sake, I’ll make an exception. If you could even contribute a dollar or two, it would be a help. Thank you! No turning back now

His strength in our weakness
My pastor, Nancy Bontempo, had her first appointment with an oncologist last Thursday and I hadn’t heard the results so I asked her about it in our prayer meeting before church this morning. It wasn’t good… Continue reading
The people I love
It’s been a good day. Jamey and Sage drove up from Madison and arrived in Door County this evening. More on that later. But first, my pastor… Continue reading
Out with the old…
Worse than we thought
I haven’t written since Mark got home last Thursday, so let’s just say first of all that Mark and Tucson got home safely. Tucson hasn’t been feeling well the last couple of days, but her nose is still cold and wet so we’re assuming it was something she ate. Continue reading
Happy Easter!
I’m writing at the end of the day, so I know most of you won’t get my Easter greeting until Monday, but every day should be like Easter in our hearts, so it’s still fitting! Continue reading
