I wasn’t sure when my last day at the Noble House for this season would be, but my boss told me at the end of my shift today that the museum will be closed next weekend. I ended the season with a bang!

Fall Fest
Last weekend was the Pumpkin Patch in Baileys Harbor. This weekend is Fall Fest in Sister Bay. Next weekend will be the Fall Art Crawl in Ellison Bay. Then, the tourist season will be pretty much over! Everyone here is eager for the tourists to go away. I called one of the lodgings I call every week to find out what their availability is like, and I asked the hotel manager how he was doing. He said he wanted to crawl under his desk!
Continue readingHave a nice trip!
My job at the Welcome Center is practically just down the street from me and I like to walk there and back on my workdays. I even do paced walking with my phone tapping out a beat for me to walk to. Monday, on my way home from work, I tripped.

A couple of weeks ago, my old Brother sewing machine started skipping stitches, so I had Mark take it to a sewing machine repair shop in Green Bay called Ana’s Sewing Studio. I also sent along a couple of samples so they could see what my machine was doing. They had a sewing machine expert named Vonnie there when Mark took my machine in, and she looked at my samples and said that my machine wasn’t strong enough to do what I wanted it to do. She suggested a bigger machine with a more powerful engine.

Today was the last of two Vintage Markets held at the Liberty Grove Historical Society Museum. Last month, I tried to sell some of my Halloween kits; this month I tried to sell Thanksgiving and Christmas kits. I also carried over my Wanda’s Journey line and sold two of those, and I took a bunch of wooden hoop frames and sold several of them. I only made about half as much as I did last month. 🙁 One plus is that I finally figured out how to use the Square I bought for taking payments through my Etsy website. It was kind of nifty!

One of you wrote to me yesterday and said it had been a while since she had heard from me and she wondered if Mark and I were OK. I’ve been running around like a chicken with my head cut off, but yes, we are both fine!

My last post was about Ashton applying for a job in Fish Creek. A whole series of events have happened since then.
Continue readingHelp wanted!
The main industry in Door County is tourism. New businesses are opening all the time, and they all need workers. Back in the day, students came up to work for the summer, but that source of help began to dry up, so businesses in Door County turned to other nations. They get J-1 students from other countries to come and work. The employers offer employee housing and often bicycles so that the students can get to and from work and around town.

Tomorrow, June 13th, is Mark’s and my 13th wedding anniversary. Mark is leaving in the morning to go to Florida for a BACA conference and will be gone for a week and a half, so we had to celebrate today along with other things he had to prepare for leaving.
Continue readingA Friday with Ashton
We have been so busy since we’ve been home – trying to move back into the house, getting Ashton set up in our RV, and getting all the stuff we moved back into the house put away – that I haven’t had much time to write, so this will just be a quick message.
