As I predicted, I had a really bad reaction to the booster shot I got on Saturday. I had a fever, chills, fatigue, and a bad headache. If you haven’t had your booster shot yet, don’t let me scare you. I have heard that most people don’t have any problem other than soreness in the area where the shot was given. As a result of my symptoms, though, I wasn’t able to make it to the garden dedication yesterday, but my dear, sweet husband borrowed my phone and got pictures for me. A big “Thank you” goes to Mark for that!

From Tucson, AZ
We actually arrived in Tucson last evening, but one of our slideouts was broken so that we couldn’t open it, and we couldn’t find the hotspot in the jumble of things packed into our tight space. Mark managed to fix our slideout today and found the hotspot. It’s so handy to be married to an RV tech!

Last night, we parked behind Cracker Barrel, so this morning, Mark was eager for me to get up so we could go in and get breakfast.

It’s been another bitterly cold day with strong headwinds. It has taken me a while to get my pictures from today processed and it’s late, so I’ll try to keep this short.

Mark and I heard, incorrectly, this morning, that the highway was closed between Pendleton and La Grande, so we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to leave Pendleton. About mid-morning, Mark talked with someone who said that the highway was open, so we cautiously set out. We were going to try to get some tire chains, but the tire store was closed for New Year’s Day. We made it here, so it turned out OK.

Mark has had to leave his motorcycle in a Harley shop in Tigard to be serviced. He’s going to have to fly back to get it sometime during the next week or so. Today, he rented a tow dolly to carry the car that I have been using in Oregon for the last several years. We didn’t actually get out of the Tigard area until about 2:00. We were only planning a 4-hour drive, so no biggie.

I mentioned at Thanksgiving that I miss the kind of family celebrations we used to have when my older sister, Sherill, was still alive. This Christmas was almost like old times!
Continue readingA coat for Tucson
On our way out here, Mark noticed a couple of times that Tucson was shivering with cold. He said he’d like to get a coat for her, so I’ve been looking. A week or two ago, I found a dog coat that was labeled Extra-Large, but when we tried to put it on her, it was too small. I thought I was going to have to make her a dog coat, so I went to Goodwill today to look for something I could adapt.

Over the weekend, Mark and I didn’t get to bed before midnight either night. I was staying up late to process the pictures I’d taken each day and to write my blog. I don’t know what Mark was staying up late for. Whatever our reasons, this is not the best thing for us to do.

Mom and Mark and I headed to southern Oregon today to visit my younger sister, Lauryn, and her family for the weekend. The family consists of my brother-in-law, Rob, and my nephew, Nate, as well as my sister. Also here are Rob’s daughter-in-law, Cynthia, and his young grandchildren.
