You’ve probably heard the expression, “Time is to keep everything from happening at once.” This last week, it felt like everything did happen at once!

Midwest storms
You probably thought you’d never hear from me again, didn’t you? I’m sorry it’s been so long – over a month – since I last wrote. I’ve been doing a lot of sewing in my free time, but my son inspired me with an idea to write about!

I took off work on the 8th and skipped church on the 9th to vend my wares at the 25th-anniversary quilt show put on by my quilt guild, Trillium Quilt Guild. It was in the Village Hall in Sister Bay. It got high praise from everyone who attended!

Introduction to our new daughters
We were waiting to be assigned a couple of J-1 students, some have yet to arrive, when I went to Piggly Wiggly and started a conversation with my Jamaican cashier. I asked if she was signed up for an American Connection family and she said she had just registered but she didn’t know what it was about. I explained what American Connection families do for the students who arrived here, and she asked if we’d be her family.

Mark flew to Tucson on Wednesday so that he could get his Suburban and the motorcycle he had to leave behind. This morning, he started the trip home.
Continue readingTrip to Milwaukee
This morning, Mark and I had to again get up at 6:00. We drove to Serenity and Jose’s place in Algoma and left our car there. They took us down to Milwaukee, WI and dropped us off at the Jim May Gallery where our daughter, Kader works. She had just flown back from Florida with another of our daughters, Lara, yesterday. Lara is only going to be in Wisconsin for a couple of days, so this was our best chance to see them both. Serenity and Jose went off to do their own exploring while we visited.
