As I predicted, I had a really bad reaction to the booster shot I got on Saturday. I had a fever, chills, fatigue, and a bad headache. If you haven’t had your booster shot yet, don’t let me scare you. I have heard that most people don’t have any problem other than soreness in the area where the shot was given. As a result of my symptoms, though, I wasn’t able to make it to the garden dedication yesterday, but my dear, sweet husband borrowed my phone and got pictures for me. A big “Thank you” goes to Mark for that!

Time with family
My sister and her family have been staying at Mom’s house, although Rob has had a bad cold for the last few days and hasn’t been able to do much. But I’ve gotten to do some things with my sister, Lauryn, and my nephew, Nate, as well as Mom.
Continue readingMy son’s remodel
Yesterday, Mom and I went over to my son’s (Jamey’s) house to see what he and Sage had done to it in 2019. Due to Covid, we weren’t able to see it when I was here last year. In fact, Jamey hasn’t been to a barber since Covid hit and I was surprised (pleasantly so!) to see that he has grown a ponytail and it’s curly like my hair!
Continue readingWe made the news!
I have wondered ever since the fire if there were ever any news stories about it or at least traffic reports. Today I thought of a way to search, and I did find an article about it:

Over the weekend, Mark and I didn’t get to bed before midnight either night. I was staying up late to process the pictures I’d taken each day and to write my blog. I don’t know what Mark was staying up late for. Whatever our reasons, this is not the best thing for us to do.
Continue readingFirst Sunday with Mom
Mom has started attending a church closer to her home since we were there last year, and she has wanted to have me come and visit her church. Today was my first Sunday to do that.
Continue readingA day of shopping with Mom
This morning, Mark and I parted ways after taking a shower at Mom’s house. He took his motorcycle to run errands around Oregon City, and Mom and I went shopping.
Continue readingFrom Salt Lake City, UT – with a slight mishap…
Mark and I had just crossed the border into Utah and been driving on Highway I-80W when a bunch of cars started honking at us as they drove by. I asked Mark, “Why are they honking?” He checked his rearview mirror and said, “We’re smoking.” He pulled over to the side of the road and got out, then opened the door and yelled, “The truck’s on fire! Call 911!”

Before we left home, I washed some of our laundry, but by today, we were out of some things, so that’s why we decided to stay at the Lancaster Event Center here in Lincoln, Nebraska another day and take showers and do all of our laundry. We had heard that they have free laundry here. You can’t beat that on the road!
Continue readingFrom Sherrill, IA
I love the name of this town, although it’s spelled a little differently from Sherill’s name. This is the name Mom derived Sherill’s name spelling from. Sherrill is located due north of Dubuque by a few miles and is situated right on the Mississippi River. We saw the reflection of the water in our headlights as we pulled in. Otherwise, it was completely dark outside!
