Starting a new tradition

I have been using my “spare” time, when I’m not working or tired and sore, writing Christmas cards, and some of you may already have received one from me.  If you have a change of address since last year, please send it to me before I get to your name.  So far, I’m into the “G’s”.  This has precluded what little writing time I’ve had for my blog, but today I have pictures that I wanted to share.

Doesn’t anyone want to WORK any more?

Williams-Sonoma has been hiring for several weeks now and everyone they interview wants to work on the sales floor rather than in the stock room, even though we in stock earn $1 more per hour than the sales associates do.  Last week they thought they had a couple more people hired to work in stock, but the people never showed up and didn’t even call. Job hunting, day three

This morning I remembered that when I was here during the summer I had learned that the local mall, Washington Square, has a website where all the stores list their job openings.  I went there and ran down the list looking for any that said they had seasonal openings.  I came up with a list of nine stores that were looking for someone on a seasonal basis.  I printed up ten copies of my resume and hit the mall…

Originally we had planned for today to be a six hour day of travel and to have two hours left to travel tomorrow, but my older sister, Sherill, suggested we come the extra two hours and stay at her house tonight.  That sounded appealing so we took her up on it, but it did make for a very long drive.

Please be cautious!

About a week ago I had my email account closed because someone had hacked into it and sent a bunch of spam out from my address.  My son, Jamey, was able to help me change my password and put code protection on my account so that I can’t be hacked again, but that doesn’t mean that someone can’t use my email address to send out spam. We’re certified!

Our boss is the greatest!  Kathy paid for everyone on staff who wanted to to get trained as a Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA).  Mark and I went through the training today at The Clearing in Ellison Bay.  But first, a woman from The Clearing gave us a tour of the campus. Continue reading
