There was a funny story from the train trip that I forgot to write about last night. I mentioned the dinner Mom and I had in the dining car with the brother and sister who were retired librarians… Continue reading

Some Mom time
I have some catching up to do. I arrived in Portland on Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday morning, Mom and I were going to take her car to the garage to have some work done on it while she was gone. I got into the car I store at her place so that I could follow her, but nothing happened when I turned the key. We called AAA and the man started it and said it needed to run for an hour, so I followed her to her garage and then she did a couple of errands while I kept the car running. We stopped at a store near her home and I turned the car off and on again, but it was dead. We called AAA a second time, and this time the man sold us a new battery and installed it. Then the car ran reliably. Continue reading
God is like a husband
Yesterday morning, Mark and I went down to Green Bay where he had a doctor’s appointment at the VA. There was snow on the ground! Continue reading
Victorian Wedding Exhibit
I happened to have my camera with me at the Noble House today, and there was so much light streaming in the windows, I decided to take some pictures during a quiet moment. We are doing an exhibit of Victorian weddings this year. I am not going to show or tell everything I say during my tours because I want to give my mother the tour when she comes here at the end of October. I don’t want her to bow out because I’ve already told it all! 😉 Continue reading
Northport
I was on the phone this afternoon when I heard a small tap at my door. Through the window, I could see Merih and Kader. I let them in and they patiently waited until I got off the phone. When I did… Continue reading

Ranch Lane has an annual block party and they alternate which end of our street is having it every year. This year it was at the “dead end” of our street. Mark and I only had a short walk to get there. Continue reading
Trying to get Amtrak reservations
I have persuaded my mother to come out to Door County for a visit, but she is afraid to fly and she doesn’t like to travel alone, so I am going to fly out at the end of October and we are planning to take a train back here. Making train reservations has taken us twenty-four hours of frustration! Continue reading
Do you remember where you were a year ago today?
Exactly one year ago today, my family was gathered at the care facility where my sister, Sherill, had just died. I have been calling each member of the family in the last couple of days to ask what changes they’ve noticed since Sherill has been gone, or what they miss the most about her. Continue reading
Quilting for charity
Today was a wonderful day for me. I got to spend almost the whole day with the Trillium Quilt Guild, and this evening I had a surprise visit. More on that later. Continue reading
“You’re perfect, Mark!”
Checking back in my blogs, it was July 17th when Mark and Merih bought a used car for Merih. However, the car needed a bunch of work on it. Mark has been spending evenings and weekends on it, and a couple of times on his day off, Merih has come over to help. It was obvious last time, though, that Merih was beginning to give up hope of ever getting to drive it this summer. Continue reading
