When my sister, Sherill, was alive, she always used to have the whole family over for Thanksgiving. It was potluck-style, but she’d assign a dish for each person to bring. The table was long and the conversation was boisterous. Thanksgiving has slowly dwindled down to family members having their own celebrations. A beautiful funeral
Today was the day for Phung’s (pronounced Foam) funeral. She had asked everyone to dress as though they were going to a wedding, and the funeral itself was beautiful. Even the weather turned out to be lovely though cold.

Mark has a sister in Ogden, Sharon, who brought us her car to use for a couple of days, and her son, Trevor, is going to help her get around while we have her car. My sister, Lauryn, has turned me on to a book called The Sacred Romance: Drawing Closer to the Heart of God by Brent Curtis and John Eldredge. I was reading this afternoon and one of the authors was talking about his grandfather taking him “visiting” on Sunday afternoons when he was young. My grandmother used to do the same with my sisters and me. I wonder, does anyone else have such fond memories of a bygone pastime?
