My mother has been lonely ever since her husband died in 2016. Mark and I talked about getting her a cat for Christmas, so we brought the subject up with Mom last night. She said she wanted our cat, Kimba. She had gotten to know Kimba the year she came to visit us in Wisconsin and then rode back to Oregon in the RV with us.

I was driving myself to church this morning and I passed through Bailey’s Harbor where they have a Sunday Farmers’ Market. As I was driving slowly by, I noticed that they had a kind of hydrangea for sale that I have been wanting for the last several years. The flowers are cone-shaped and they go from white to a deep pink.

I got another roll of batting yesterday and Mark and I realized that I am going to need the whole craft room for my office. I had hoped we could be creative in there together, but I’m bursting at the seams with all the kits I’ve been making in the last couple of weeks. But I found a space for Mark to move to…

Fifteen years ago, toward the end of my first marriage, I saw an ad posted on the bulletin board at work for a kitten that needed a good home. The kitten’s name was Dabé. He didn’t look like a Dabé to me. He had huge ears for his little body and reminded me of Dobby the house-elf in the Harry Potter stories, so I named him Dobby.

A man in my church has a grandchild named Ashton who came for a two-week visit starting during the 4th of July weekend. Gene and his wife work all week and he didn’t want Ashton to be home alone, so he asked if Ashton could come to my place while he works. I readily agreed!

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this in my blog before, but I am on unemployment, and I made the mistake of reporting that I was unavailable to work the week that Mark and I were traveling up here. Ever since then, they stopped sending my benefits while they investigated why I wasn’t available that week.

Today, June 13th, Mark and I are celebrating our twelfth wedding anniversary. We spent most of the day apart — he driving to Milwaukee, a three hour drive each way, and me spending a good part of the day at the local laundromat cleaning up more stuff the mice got into. We did eventually get together for a dinner which we ordered as curbside delivery.

I slept in until after 10:00 this morning. Mark had to come in and wake me up. He said I slept through a doozy of a storm last night with lightning that lit up the whole bedroom and crashing thunder. I didn’t hear a thing. When we go west, we gain two hours, but when we go east, we lose two hours. Add that to the late nights I’ve been keeping, and you can understand why I was so tired yesterday and last night.

The part of Butte, Montana we spent the night in last night was the historic section. As we were leaving, I took several pictures. Continue reading

This morning, Mark went out to the RV to take care of the critters and found that we had no water. It was all frozen. We saw a lot of frozen water today. Continue reading
