Before we left Wisconsin, Mark and I tried applying for several different jobs. On our trip out here, I had a telephone interview for one of the jobs I applied to. I have known for a while that there is a snow mobile trail in the woods behind Lynn’s and Karen’s house, but I had never ventured far enough onto their property to find it. Yesterday, Lynn and her dog, Sasha, took Tucson and me for a walk there and I discovered that the trail led to the field behind the fire station where I work. This morning, I decided to walk to work. It has been so cold in the house that generally I sit in front of the fireplace in my winter coat and stoke the fire all day. It was every bit as cold in the house this morning, but there was a warm breeze outside. I opened all the windows and doors to let the heat in, and then I went outside to work in the yard. Several of you have asked whether I got the job I interviewed for at the Ephraim Historical Museum. I didn’t get it, but the interviewer sent me an email asking if I’d like to have my name put in for a Visitor Information job in Ephraim. I politely declined. I would have gone the distance for the museum job, but not for another Visitor Information job. I already have one of those. Continue reading
