Girls’ day out

Mark was in class all day today and I thought it was going to be a quiet day in the RV for me.  I’ve been trying to get a little walking in each day, so this morning I planned to take a ten minute walk around the park every hour to keep myself moving.  While I was out walking I saw that our next door neighbor was walking too.  I had never spoken to her before, but her husband had greeted us yesterday when we pulled in and I had seen her working around their RV, so I knew who she was.  I greeted her as I was passing by this morning and she invited me to join her. Natchitoches at last!

We actually left Lafayette yesterday and arrived in Natchitoches last night.  I enjoyed the scenery but I didn’t get any pictures.  I still don’t have any pictures because Mark and I have been getting ready for the class we’re going to take here starting tomorrow morning. Continue reading →

They let me out of the cage!

We got slammed last weekend (Black Friday through Cyber Monday) to the point where I was wondering if I could do this.  At least half the trees we had set up disappeared.  We had a couple employees knocking them out as fast as they could, but unfortunately they were setting them up crooked.  Mark finally took over cutting and drilling and setting up trees, along with flocking.  There was no way he could catch up by himself. Final days of school

I didn’t get a chance to mention that all of us women were invited over to the Cooper’s RV yesterday afternoon for a “Kitchen class”.  I had no idea what a kitchen class would be.  They have a brand new Redwood and it’s very fancy but out of our price range.  The kitchen class mostly consisted of showing off various features of the kitchen.  Then one of the women changed the subject to questions she had about this week of training and things got a lot more interesting.  I learned more from that discussion than I did from the class. Work and play

In the business class this morning, we went over making a business plan.  I was so inspired that after class I drove to Walmart and got some supplies.  Steve said it should look nice, with pictures that illustrate what we plan to do.  I got a notebook, some page protectors, and some scrapbooking materials.  I made the cover before lunch, the title page after lunch, and worked on a brief resume for Mark and me.  Here are pictures: Continue reading →

First day of school

This morning I went with Mark to the first session of his class.  When I said the Workamper.com RV and Workamper News car belonged to Terry Cooper, I was wrong.  They belong to the president of Workamper.com, Steve Anderson.  Terry Cooper and his wife, whom everyone calls Lady E, are in a fifth wheel right next to Steve and his wife. Mark has told me that when he was a long-haul trucker, he never made it through Austin without going through stop-and-go traffic.  There was even a time when it took him three hours to get through Austin.  This being Sunday, we decided to get up early and try to get through Austin before noon.
