As I write this, Mark and I are going through Sturgeon Bay on our way out of Door County. I didn’t have a chance to write last night because we were so busy trying to get ready to leave, but I did want to mention one thing before we land somewhere tonight.

The big move
We moved into our RV earlier this week, but we’re still sitting in our driveway. We discovered last year that by moving into the RV early, if we think of something we wanted to take with us, we only have to go into the house to get it.
Continue readingLast day at the Noble House
I wasn’t sure when my last day at the Noble House for this season would be, but my boss told me at the end of my shift today that the museum will be closed next weekend. I ended the season with a bang!
Continue readingFall Fest
Last weekend was the Pumpkin Patch in Baileys Harbor. This weekend is Fall Fest in Sister Bay. Next weekend will be the Fall Art Crawl in Ellison Bay. Then, the tourist season will be pretty much over! Everyone here is eager for the tourists to go away. I called one of the lodgings I call every week to find out what their availability is like, and I asked the hotel manager how he was doing. He said he wanted to crawl under his desk!

…Mark gets a chance to wear a Viking hat! This was a picture and story I forgot to tell on Sunday but thought you might enjoy. We went to Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant (the one with the goats on the roof!) in Sister Bay for lunch after church, and while we were waiting to get a table, we went into their boutique to see what wonderful things they had.

In the spring, the flowerbed in front of my house always starts out with shy violets and lily of the valley. By fall, it is completely overrun with everything from ferns and goldenrod to Queen Ann’s lace and a sort of locust tree (Robinia hispida) we can’t seem to get rid of. Today, I asked Mark to take a weed-whacker to the whole thing.
Continue readingHave a nice trip!
My job at the Welcome Center is practically just down the street from me and I like to walk there and back on my workdays. I even do paced walking with my phone tapping out a beat for me to walk to. Monday, on my way home from work, I tripped.
Continue readingGod’s bounty
A week or two ago, I noticed a tree full of apples at my church, so this morning, I wrote to my pastor to ask if I could pick some and he said I could. I was coming from my job at the Noble House, so I was in costume.
Continue readingMy new Brother
A couple of weeks ago, my old Brother sewing machine started skipping stitches, so I had Mark take it to a sewing machine repair shop in Green Bay called Ana’s Sewing Studio. I also sent along a couple of samples so they could see what my machine was doing. They had a sewing machine expert named Vonnie there when Mark took my machine in, and she looked at my samples and said that my machine wasn’t strong enough to do what I wanted it to do. She suggested a bigger machine with a more powerful engine.
Continue readingLiberty Grove Historical Society Vintage Market – 2
Today was the last of two Vintage Markets held at the Liberty Grove Historical Society Museum. Last month, I tried to sell some of my Halloween kits; this month I tried to sell Thanksgiving and Christmas kits. I also carried over my Wanda’s Journey line and sold two of those, and I took a bunch of wooden hoop frames and sold several of them. I only made about half as much as I did last month. 🙁 One plus is that I finally figured out how to use the Square I bought for taking payments through my Etsy website. It was kind of nifty!
