Saying our goodbyes

As I write this, Mark and I are going through Sturgeon Bay on our way out of Door County. I didn’t have a chance to write last night because we were so busy trying to get ready to leave, but I did want to mention one thing before we land somewhere tonight.

Last night, we had dinner with our Turkish daughter, Kader, at Husby’s in Sister Bay. It may be the last time we see her for a while. She and her boyfriend, Alex, are planning to take an exploratory trip to Florida for a few days to look for housing and jobs. They want to move to Naples, FL where a couple of our other Turkish kids, Lara and Cha (their Americanized names) live. If Kader and Alex can find something, they will be moving down there this winter. We tried to convince Kader that Arizona is better than Florida, but we were only half-serious. We know that Kader wants to be close to her friends. It was a sad goodbye, but Kader says she will come and visit sometime.

Goodbye, Kader! We love you!
