First day at Pleasant View

After our experience at Savage, I’m sure some of you were questioning our sanity for agreeing to do the same things somewhere else.  All I know is that before we heard from Steve yesterday that we could come to this new site, I was praying that if we got the job God would let there be nice people to work with there and that I’d have the strength to do it.  I think God answered my prayer. This morning we caught Steve, the representative from Express Employment Professionals, and had a long talk with him.  We told him what happened yesterday and the problems we were having and asked him if we could work in the lab.  He said they just hired two young guys yesterday to work in the lab and we asked if they might be willing to trade.  He said he’d check on it, and if not he wondered if we’d be willing to switch to another piler yard that would be no more than twelve hours.  We were hesitant. What a day!!!

I messed up.  I woke up tired this morning; so much so that I couldn’t walk straight.  I guess I missed a couple tare samples today.  By lunch time I was in tears.  I came back after lunch, but it became apparent to my supervisors that I was a zombie.  One of them practically carried me back to my car and told me to take a nap.  I guess I slept for about two hours and felt somewhat better when I woke up, but they didn’t want me back. Attitude

Thank you to all those who wrote to cheer me up from the day I had yesterday.  There was one incident I had forgotten to write about last night because I didn’t get yelled at about it yesterday.  This morning in our stand up meeting, the boss didn’t mention our piler crew, but he did mention to everyone else that someone had forgotten to take a tare sample.  That would be me. Work assignments

This morning Mark and I drove down to Savage for our orientation with Sidney Sugar.  We met on site at the field where we’ll be working.  I had thought that everyone who came to Sidney would be sent to this work area, but apparently there are three sites near Sidney.  There were only a handful of us in Savage.
