Traditionally, Mark and I go to Tombstone for his birthday on March 14th, but I wasn’t here then, so we went today. In the meantime, today was Lauryn’s first day with Dad. She had asked him where he’d like to go for a drive and he wanted to go to the Aviation and Space Center in McMinville, Oregon. They have the Spruce Goose there, the plane that Howard Hughes built. I’ll share pictures from both trips.
Continue readingYesterday, I showed a picture of the bench I thought I was going to sleep on. I wasn’t able to get to sleep on it for very long, so I moved to some chairs with a back I could lay my head on, but that didn’t work very well either. I got a few winks in but spent most of the night working on crossword puzzles. I had left a message in my last post for someone to call me at 5:00 this morning to make sure I was awake for my flight. My mother, God bless her soul, did! I was already awake anyway, but I was glad she called.
Continue readingThis morning Wendy came to pick me up at Mom’s house and take me to the airport. She walked me in and we said our goodbyes. Then I walked into the area where you have to put everything in buckets and go through a scanner. They said to take everything out of our pockets. I didn’t think I had much in my pockets, so I went through the scanner. The woman on the other side asked if I had anything in my pockets and when I reached into them, I came up with a Kleenex. Because of that small piece of tissue, I had to be frisked!
Continue readingMom took me to her church this morning. The pastor commented on it being St Patrick’s Day and asked if there was anyone who didn’t have green on. He had a green leprechaun hat, the green and white hat band which he took off the hat, and a green scarf to give out, but after that, he said anyone else without green was on their own!

Continue readingKader’s and Zak’s wedding was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We left there Monday morning and were in Des Moines, Iowa by that evening. I wasn’t able to write about it because I was processing about a hundred pictures I took at the wedding.
Continue readingMark and I have been trying to donate our old RV to Make a Wish for the last month, but every tow company they have tried to have come and pick it up has decided they couldn’t get it for some reason. We finally had to sign the title and leave it and the keys in the glove compartment. Hopefully, it will be gone by the time we get home next spring!
Continue readingAs a refresher, let me tell you about my Turkish daughter, Kader. We met her 4 or 5 years ago through a Bridges program put together by the churches in northern Door County. J-1 students come here to work for the summer and their employers provide housing and a bicycle for getting around. The churches decided to pair them up with Christian families who could take them around Door County, invite them over for dinner, or take them to Bridges events that are planned to give the students a chance to meet each other and do something fun.
