No such thing as a free dinner?

Yesterday when we were walking around the River Walk, we went up to what we thought was an information booth to ask directions.  Turns out it was a Wyndham “Welcome Center”, which means we got pressured to go to a sales pitch today about Wyndham Club membership in exchange for free dinner at the Chart House on the top of the Tower of the Americas.  We managed to stand firm in not buying into a time share and had a lovely dinner.  Here are our pics: Continue reading

Starting the New Year out with new things

When my nephew, Nate, was young, my sister Lauryn decided to do the gift giving on New Years Eve so that the family could focus on Christ’s birth on Christmas.  She figured it would be appropriate to start the New Year with new things, so the biggest family party of the year has ever since been New Years Eve with Lauryn as the hostess extraordinaire.  The food was always fantastic, but the biggest event was the gift exchange, especially the white elephant exchange.  Her parties were always the highlight of the year. Work and play

Market day

Today was Farmer’s Market day in downtown Winnsboro.  Yesterday Karl got kind of crushed by a cow so he had a doctor’s appointment this morning and couldn’t go with Nancy.  She herself wasn’t feeling up to snuff, so I offered to go with her and help.  There were only about five tables in this Farmer’s Market and not too many people came through so I had a chance to see all the tables and visit with the vendors.  Part way through the morning Karl stopped by on his way to the doctor and left Stewart with us.  Here is what I saw today: Continue reading

A day on the farm

This morning after a breakfast of garbanzo bean and coconut flour pancakes and home made sausage and raw milk at the house, Mark and I got the RV and car moved.  We had to leave the car in the pasture with Folger (the horse).  It was hard enough as it was to get the RV in behind the guest house and get it plugged in.
