Today we got up early and picked up Jamey and Sarah at their hotel. We crossed the border and took the ferry over to Vancouver Island. We spent all morning at Butchart Gardens and a good part of the afternoon at the Craigdarroch Castle, which I’d never seen before. Then we barely had time to drive by the Empress Hotel and the Parliament Building so Mark could see those. Here is a sampling of pictures from the day: Continue reading

Happy birthday to me!
Today is my birthday! Late yesterday afternoon my mother, stepfather, son and daughter-in-law came up to be with me through Mother’s Day. Last night Aunt Marg and all the rest of us went to dinner at my favorite restaurant, Via Birch Bay Café and Bistro. My family all got to see our new RV too. It’s so good to have them here! Happy Easter!
I know that most of you won’t get this in time for Easter, so happy belated Easter. This evening we took Aunt Marg to see Heaven is for Real. It’s based on a book by a pastor named Todd Burpo. Reverend Burpo tells the story of his four year old son, Colton, who had a near fatal illness and came back saying he’d been to heaven. If you haven’t seen this movie or read the book, I highly recommend it. Continue reading

Just wanted to say a brief “Hey!” to all of you who have sent your prayers and wishes for me. My hands are beginning to show signs of improvement. A big thanks goes out to Mark who has kept me connected with you all, and to Aunt Marg who has been a big help throughout this week. It’s not over yet, but I am encouraged! –Denise

Hey everbody!!
Hey its me again. Denise had an appointment with the hand doctor this morning. In talking with her doctor, it was determined that Denise should have surgery on her wrist on morning of March 13th. I understand being sterile but I ain’t gonna be in the operating room with her… Continue reading
