I’m actually going to send two posts today! Suffice it to say that Mark and I are enjoying the off-season in Door County. Yesterday, I got to go to Christkindlemarkt in Sister Bay for the first time ever!

The village tree
Mark and I have never been in Door County so late in the fall, so we’ve been kind of interested to see what things are like in the off-season. Last Saturday (Nov 11th), the Ellison Bay Service Club (EBSC) asked for volunteers to help set up the tree and decorate it, and Mark and I participated.

Today was my birthday. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and as I was washing my hands, I was humming “Happy birthday to me!” I had to get up at 6:00 this morning to go to a tourism breakfast in Sturgeon Bay with my boss and co-workers from the Welcome Center, but it was fun. We have a new staff member and it was a good opportunity to get to know her better.

Mark suggested I spend my last night here at Mom’s house. If my pictures look different from usual, it’s because I can’t get into the internet on my laptop to use my usual editing program so I’m using one that comes with Mom’s computer. It doesn’t do all the things I’m used to being able to do, but it’s better than no pictures at all!

This morning, I texted with Wendy and she was doing well enough to have me come over. In fact, as Mark said later, other than the scarf on her head, she didn’t look sick. I was so happy to see her!

This morning, Mark had put a collar and leash on Tucson to take her out and do her thing, but she got spooked by something and wouldn’t go out. He left the collar and leash on her when he left to get Mom and told me not to take Tucson out before he got back. Mark took Mom to the DEQ to get her license, but the line was so long that Mom decided to try again tomorrow and get there before they open, so Mark headed back to get me.

Happy Sunday to you all! It is a very happy Sunday for me. Mark just got our electricity working. We have had no electricity in our outlets since the 12th, and you never know how much you depend on it until you lose it!

Nearly every Monday since the first of January, I’ve been quilting with a bunch of crafty women here at the church. I’ve been working on my new Wanda’s Journey products for a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. I thought I’d make placemats this year.

This morning at 7:00 sharp, Mark and I were awakened by a trumpet playing Revelie. For a moment, Mark was confused until I reminded him that we are camping at the Davis Monthan Air Force Base.

Yesterday morning, while I was at work, Serenity texted me and said that Jose’s father in El Salvador had just passed. They knew he was dying of cancer, so it wasn’t exactly a surprise, but you’re never really prepared for something like that. It was because his father was dying that Serenity and Jose pushed their wedding date up to December. I picked up some flowers after work and took them over to Jose, and Mark had just gone into their trailer to give Jose his condolences. Jose showed us videos that his nephew has been taking of the funeral.
