We arrived in Maple Grove, Minnesota where our KOA is and checked in on April 9th. We paid for our site and for a cabin a short distance from our site, got the key and a space heater for the cabin, turned the space heater and porch light on, and locked the door. The cabin is for my son, Jamey, who was just finishing up a work conference at the University of Minnesota. He had spent the two nights of his conference in a hotel, so he called us when it was over and we went to pick him up. Continue reading

Galveston, Oh Galveston!
Yesterday Mark and I left the San Antonio area and spent the night in Port Aransas, an island just off the coast of Corpus Christi. It was a typical beach town, but we were in a tightly packed RV park away from the beach. I was uninspired there, but I took a few pictures. Continue reading
Mark’s present to himself
Two and a half years ago when we sold all our possessions and walked away from our stick-and-brick house, Mark gave up his beloved Harley. He hasn’t been the same since. Recently he saw a bike online that he really liked so he put a couple hundred dollars down on it. The bike was in Dallas so we went up there last weekend to get it, but our plans were thwarted. They offered to send the bike down to Austin this week so we could try again to get it. My cousin, Dan Brim, sent our leathers and helmets from Lynden, WA. They arrived in San Antonio yesterday when we went to the office, so today we went to Austin prepared to pick up the bike. Continue reading
Movers and shakers
We knew when we got up this morning that it was going to be a busy day, but it was even busier than we originally thought it was going to be. Continue reading
Recognizing Christ
Today was bitterly cold with heavy winds that blew through our tent. Our boss told us to mark all our trees and wreaths at half price, and even at that people tried to get us to let them have a tree for less! At some point today a couple walked in. The man was blind in one eye and they both looked hard up. The first thing the man said to me was, “We’ve had a bad year. We’re hoping you have a small tree.” I showed them our only table top tree which is flocked, and at half price it was $25, but that was obviously too much for them and they left, looking rather dejected. Continue reading
First day of school
This morning I went with Mark to the first session of his class. When I said the Workamper.com RV and Workamper News car belonged to Terry Cooper, I was wrong. They belong to the president of Workamper.com, Steve Anderson. Terry Cooper and his wife, whom everyone calls Lady E, are in a fifth wheel right next to Steve and his wife. Continue reading
It’s looking good!
Today was partly sunny with some breeze. While there is still mud on the ground, it’s not such that we are afraid of sinking in up to our hubcaps when we leave tomorrow. Thank you to all those of you who were praying for us today. So far, God has been preparing a way for us! Continue reading
Rain, rain, go away!
Nancy has been wishing for rain for the farm and she has certainly gotten her wish the last couple of days. We’ve had so much rain that I finally had to put some old political posters across from the barn door to the gate that leads to their back yard. The mud was getting to be so deep it was trying to suck us in. Continue reading
A test for our chicken coop
This afternoon as Mark and I were working on the chicken coop, big black clouds were gathering in the northwestern sky. The wind began to rock the coop. We had brittle fiberglass roofing on one side and we were beginning to lay corrugated metal on the other. Then it began to rain. We finally went to our RV and from there we could see the rain coming in sideways. I felt like singing, “Oh say can you see if our roof is still there?” Continue reading
From Nebraska City, NE
We planned a short day of travel today and it was a good thing. This morning Mark was catching a heavy crosswind from the southeast that made driving difficult. We stopped once to get gas and a little after that we stopped at a rest area so he could relax his grip. Fortunately, as soon as we left the rest area the highway turned southeast so the wind wasn’t hitting us broadside. Continue reading
