We finally made it here. We arrived around noon and then Mark tried to get everything set up. For some reason, our electrical keeps tripping the breaker, so we will need to use the generator in the RV until Mark can find the parts to fix it. We also need to get another hose so we can hook up to water. We are just really happy to have landed, and the family has been contacting us to welcome us back. Since I wasn’t able to show pictures from yesterday, I’ll include some of those today. Continue reading

From Hood River, OR
So close and yet so far! It was after dark when we arrived in Hood River. As soon as we entered the Gorge, we ran into strong winds. Mark was exhausted by the time we got here. Continue reading
From Missoula, MT
We woke up this morning to a bright, blue sky. What a beautiful way to start the day! Mark checked the weather report online and discovered that even if we had taken the southern route, we would have run into snow storms. What’s more, we got out of Wisconsin before this storm was expected to drop three inches of snow there! Continue reading
From Billings, MT
It was 15° F when we got up this morning, but there was some sunshine, so we were encouraged. We had hoped to make it to at least Missoula, MT by tonight. Continue reading
From Mandan, ND
There were two very good reasons why Mark chose to go the northern route across the country this time: 1) We were leaving Wisconsin five days later than we had hoped and this is the shorter, more direct route, and 2) in looking ahead at the weather report across the country for this week, it showed rain but no snow.
Go!
We’re in the RV! It’s still parked in our driveway, but we hope to leave as early as possible in the morning. Continue reading
Get set…again
Today went a little better. Mark gave me some specific cleaning assignments and I completed them, so I’m feeling better about myself. In the meantime, he managed to get things pretty much ready in the RV and we also got his motorcycle loaded into the pickup truck. We still have a fair amount to do tomorrow, and then we hope to spend the night tomorrow night in the RV so that we can pretty much head out on Monday.
Umm…On your mark…?
OK, so Mark and I were talking about things today and he says we probably could have left by Sunday except that we need to stop in Green Bay to pick up a part so the RV furnace will work, and the supplier won’t be open on Sunday. It’s looking like we won’t be leaving Door County until Monday.
Get set…
We figure we’re still going to be here in Ellison Bay through tomorrow. Saturday is within the realm of possibility too. However, we did make progress today.
Get ready…
Well, we had aimed for getting out of here tomorrow, but it ain’t happening. Besides the fact that we still have a lot to do to get ready, Mark can’t find the keys to the RV ignition, so he had to call a locksmith. The locksmith is down in Green Bay and won’t be able to come up until tomorrow.
