I have some catching up to do. I arrived in Portland on Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday morning, Mom and I were going to take her car to the garage to have some work done on it while she was gone. I got into the car I store at her place so that I could follow her, but nothing happened when I turned the key. We called AAA and the man started it and said it needed to run for an hour, so I followed her to her garage and then she did a couple of errands while I kept the car running. We stopped at a store near her home and I turned the car off and on again, but it was dead. We called AAA a second time, and this time the man sold us a new battery and installed it. Then the car ran reliably. Continue reading

Victorian Wedding Exhibit
I happened to have my camera with me at the Noble House today, and there was so much light streaming in the windows, I decided to take some pictures during a quiet moment. We are doing an exhibit of Victorian weddings this year. I am not going to show or tell everything I say during my tours because I want to give my mother the tour when she comes here at the end of October. I don’t want her to bow out because I’ve already told it all! 😉 Continue reading
2019 Block Party
Ranch Lane has an annual block party and they alternate which end of our street is having it every year. This year it was at the “dead end” of our street. Mark and I only had a short walk to get there. Continue reading
Washer/dryer
For the last couple of summers, my washing machine has been occasionally staining our clothes with streaks that look a little like oil. This summer, it badly stained one of my costumes for work at the Noble House and my boss had to take it home and work on it to get the stain out. She told me about a repair guy that she trusts, and when I told him what happened, he suggested I try powdered laundry detergent rather than liquid. That seemed to work at first, but then… Continue reading
When it’s hot, it storms!
When I went to work at the Visitor’s Center today, the sky was sunny and blue. There was not a hint of the predicted thunderstorms. Continue reading
Mock up
I’m going to keep this short tonight. This evening, Mark and I moved everything back into the bathroom temporarily so we can see how it’s all going to fit. Continue reading
New linoleum
Our dining room has the largest open floor space if we move the table and chairs out, so that’s what we did on Sunday. Then we brought in the roll of linoleum we were storing out on the back deck and unrolled it… Continue reading
All God’s critters got a place in the choir…
First I’d like to say a word about my pastor, Nancy Bontempo. She will be leaving in a week for a clinic in Chicago that does a combination of whole body and traditional treatment. I believe she said she’d be there for five days while they have a team of therapists from different specialties examine her and ask her questions about her diet and exercise and mental attitude and such. She will be staying with a friend who has offered to take her back and forth to her appointments, so she doesn’t have that kind of expense to worry about. However, her insurance will only pay for any traditional therapy she gets. She is attempting to raise $50,000 for the rest of her treatment and has started a GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/nancy-bontempo-fighting-breast-cancer?fbclid=IwAR13FnmbqhcqhgqZvqZc98yIDWGHzhHaHIs6gTkNG1REQw2Kri8rjXCojPI. I don’t usually ask if my readers would like to help with things like this, but for her sake, I’ll make an exception. If you could even contribute a dollar or two, it would be a help. Thank you! Summer is finally here!
As of today, we have finally entered summer. You may be thinking I’m off by a few days, but what I mean is that today we finally hit temperatures in the mid-70s. Looking at the future forecast, it would appear that it will be in the 70s and 80s for the foreseeable future! Continue reading
Solutions to every problem
In various ways, Mark and I have each faced minor challenges this week. Mine was costuming for my job at the Noble House and Mark’s is the bathroom floor. Continue reading
