My better half

Ever since Mark had his vertigo attack, people have been telling me about a new treatment for vertigo.  Vertigo is caused by crystals in the fluid in your inner ear that somehow end up where they aren’t supposed to be, and the treatment is to move the head around in such a way as to get them back in place.  Mark had a chiropractic appointment this morning and the chiropractor did this type of treatment for him. A sort of fasting and a pouring down of blessings

Yesterday (Monday) Mark had an orientation at the VA in the morning and I slept in.  When I got up I waited till a reasonable hour Pacific Time and called my older sister to discuss some neat things I’ve been learning in my women’s Bible study.  While I talked with her on the phone I had cold pizza from the day before and a Coke.  After Mark’s orientation, he went to McDonalds for lunch and then made a couple “guy” stops.  Little did we know that those lunches would be the last real meals we’d have for over 24 hours. The annual Mennonite/Amish quilt show

I’m behind in writing about something Mark and I did last weekend.  One of the local Mennonite churches had their annual Mennonite and Amish quilt show.  Mark took his camera and we spent an hour in there ooo-ing and ahh-ing.  It has taken me a few days to edit the pictures, but here they are: Continue reading →

My camera died :-(

So many of you have told me since I’ve been blogging how much you enjoy my photos.  I had noticed on our way down here that something was wrong with the pictures I was taking.  When I started in the photo club here, I also observed that I was getting an E:6210 error message.  I followed several suggestions the facilitator gave me, and someone else tried to help, but to no avail.  Last week I took my camera to a camera shop someone in the club had recommended and learned that it had to do with the stabilization in my lens and would cost a minimum of $233 to fix it.  No can do! The LA Times story by John Glionna

Those of you who have been with me for a while will remember that last summer when we were working in Door County, a reporter named John Glionna and a photographer named Francine Orr came out from the LA Times to tag along with us, interview us, and photograph us.  One thing and another came along and the story was put off.  John just wrote to me to ask if I’d seen the story online. A new forwarding address

A number of you sent us Christmas cards that we haven’t received yet.  We have been using the UPS Store in Bellingham, WA as our forwarding address for nearly a year.  Problem is, they weren’t forwarding our mail to us.  In the year, we might have gotten four or five mailings, if that.  I could never reach them by phone, and I could seldom reach them by email.  It has been a very frustrating experience. The Sunday after the storm

I emailed everyone I could think of this morning to forestall anyone worrying about us when they saw the news about the tornado that hit close to where we are.  For those of you who didn’t get an email, you needn’t worry about Mark and me.  We slept through the whole storm and it didn’t greatly affect Sun N Fun.  We’ve seen lots of Spanish moss on the ground and one of the wifi towers was down this afternoon, but everyone here in the park is safe. What I’ve been doing in my off time

I haven’t sent many pictures lately because I’ve been having technical difficulties with both my camera and my laptop, but tonight I mean to rectify the situation.  Besides sewing and quilting, I’ve also joined a photography club, and I’m learning a bit about ways to improve my photography through the way I shoot pictures and also through the editing process.  We’re practicing on dogs because you can’t control them so you have to learn how to go with the flow.  Here are some shots I took at the dog park last week: Continue reading →

He’s ba-ack!

I didn’t write last night because I wanted to be able to report that Mark was home.  I had thought he might be home by the time I got home from work a little after 8:00, but he wasn’t.  Instead, there was a message on the answering machine saying he was just north of St. Petersburg, FL and he would be home soon.  I thought I might have time to make it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy to pick up my laptop.
