An interesting turn of events
Tuesday and Wednesday were my days off, and that’s when I did all the job hunting I wrote about in my last post. I believe I have been hired at Tea Thyme In Door County which is owned by the women that live across the street from us. I’m to meet with Karen on Monday morning at 10:00 to firm that up a bit. So far, they are talking about needing me for ten hours a week in the mornings. Continue reading
House dedication
Today was the Big Day we’ve been working toward. We got up this morning and took the bedding off the hide-a-bed we’ve been sleeping on in the living room and turned it back into a couch. We cleaned and prepared food and got ready for people to come to our house dedication which we had told everyone would start at 2:00. Our first guests arrived at 2:45. Continue reading
It’s ours!
Last weekend I finally announced that Mark and I were in the process of buying a house. We just had some finances to come up with before it would be ours. I had saved $3200 toward the closing costs, but they amounted to $5600. My older sister, Sherill, gave me $1400, but I still needed another $1000. Continue reading
Almost home!
Last fall, I wrote about how God opened the treasure houses of heaven and showered Mark and me with more blessings than we could have ever imagined. Money was coming from multiple sources in unexpected ways. But it wasn’t just monetary blessing. I’ve been waiting for months to write about what God is doing for us… Continue reading
Doesn’t anyone want to WORK any more?
Williams-Sonoma has been hiring for several weeks now and everyone they interview wants to work on the sales floor rather than in the stock room, even though we in stock earn $1 more per hour than the sales associates do. Last week they thought they had a couple more people hired to work in stock, but the people never showed up and didn’t even call. Continue reading
The removal of God’s glory
I was reading Ezekiel 8-10 this morning in my devotions. God took Ezekiel, in a vision, to all the places in and around the temple where the elders and the people were worshiping false gods and idols, thinking that God wouldn’t see them. He knew all their hiding places. In the vision, Ezekiel watched as God slowly got up from the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant and removed his glory from the temple. Continue reading
Pictures from our election trip
So we all woke up to a new day today. Some of you woke up feeling happy and some of you felt like you’d been kicked in the stomach, but the sun still rose and life goes on. I woke up early this morning and began practicing what I preached last night…praying for our president-elect and for the country.
Watching the election from Lynden, WA
How far did you go to vote? Mark and I drove five hours to Lynden, WA to vote. We are registered here but discovered last week that our registrations had become inactive. We updated our addresses, but it was too late to get an absentee ballot, so here we are. Continue reading
Job hunting, day two
Job hunting is beginning to feel like a job in itself. I started at 11:00 this morning and didn’t finish till nearly 5:00. Continue reading
