Almost home!

Last fall, I wrote about how God opened the treasure houses of heaven and showered Mark and me with more blessings than we could have ever imagined.  Money was coming from multiple sources in unexpected ways.  But it wasn’t just monetary blessing.  I’ve been waiting for months to write about what God is doing for us…

When we found out we couldn’t come back to Wagon Trail Campground this coming summer, we tried to find other campgrounds in Door County where we could stay as seasonals.  Nothing was working out.  During this period of blessing, we decided to see if we could maybe buy a house.  We looked at several right before we left to come out west, and we found one that we loved.  We made an offer right there in the realtor’s office.  Then we came to Oregon.  We spent the whole time Mark was here trying to meet all the requirements and it looked like we were finally going to be able to sign sometime during the week between Christmas and New Years, or rather I should say I had Power of Attorney to sign for Mark since he left right after Christmas to head for Florida.

The paperwork went to the underwriters and all of a sudden, everything came to a screeching halt.  They threw a roadblock up that has taken nearly two months to clear up.  Friday morning I got a call from the loan officer congratulating us on finally being cleared to close.  Yay!  But then he told me how much the closing costs were going to be and I didn’t have enough saved for it.  Boo!  My older sister and her husband gifted us half the money for the closing costs.  Yay!  I am going to try to pull some from my IRA for the rest, but that will take some time.  Boo!

However, this afternoon I was able to sign all the paperwork for closing on the house.  We are so close that I am beginning to finally allow myself to believe it’s going to happen!  I talked with my sister at length about this last night and I said, “Sometimes I wonder why God would give us this house?  Are we supposed to do some sort of ministry with it or is this all just part of the blessing He started bestowing on us last fall?”  She assured me that God is good and that He loves to give us good gifts.

Here are a few pictures from the realtor’s listing of the blessing God is giving us:

We don’t have any furniture, but God will provide that too.
