Mecca for Workampers

Today we drove up to Heber Springs, AR in our truck.  This is like going to Mecca for Workampers because that’s where the office of Workamper News is.  We needed to pick up some brochures and we wanted to meet the people we’ve been talking to for so long.  We also had a chance to see what all is in the Workamper store and Mark bought some RV maintenance DVDs. From Little Rock, AR

Last night several of us class members initiated a new fire ring Mark and I got and roasted marshmallows.  We stayed up late talking, and then this morning everyone helped each other get ready to leave.  Ricky and Mike helped Mark load his Harley into the truck and then we said our goodbyes to them.  Lance drove by and wished us luck in our business and safety in our travels.  Then I went over to Bob and Sally’s RV and knocked on the door.  Bob came out and chatted with us for a while.  He said he would recommend all of us to RVIC if we all wanted to contract with them.  After all the goodbyes, we hit the road. Graduation day

Mark and I have been busy in class this week.  The guys spent two day inspecting the instructor’s 5th wheel.  Then us wives had to learn how to fill out the sixty-some point inspection report on the computer from the tests the guys did and the things they observed.  In the late afternoon they would put each of our reports up on the screen for critique. Girls’ day out

Mark was in class all day today and I thought it was going to be a quiet day in the RV for me.  I’ve been trying to get a little walking in each day, so this morning I planned to take a ten minute walk around the park every hour to keep myself moving.  While I was out walking I saw that our next door neighbor was walking too.  I had never spoken to her before, but her husband had greeted us yesterday when we pulled in and I had seen her working around their RV, so I knew who she was.  I greeted her as I was passing by this morning and she invited me to join her. Natchitoches at last!

We actually left Lafayette yesterday and arrived in Natchitoches last night.  I enjoyed the scenery but I didn’t get any pictures.  I still don’t have any pictures because Mark and I have been getting ready for the class we’re going to take here starting tomorrow morning. Continue reading

Louisiana culture

For a state where every other billboard seems to be about a casino, most of the towns in this area close up on Sundays.  This is a good thing except that today was our last day in the Lafayette area and I wanted to see as much as I could see.  Continue reading

Galveston, Oh Galveston!

Yesterday Mark and I left the San Antonio area and spent the night in Port Aransas, an island just off the coast of Corpus Christi.  It was a typical beach town, but we were in a tightly packed RV park away from the beach.  I was uninspired there, but I took a few pictures.  Continue reading

X marks the spot!

Today is Mark’s 61st birthday.  Want to know how to plan a perfect birthday?  You have to know the birthday recipient very well – all his wishes, his likes – and then you have to think of a way give him everything he could wish for.  That’s why at the breakfast table Mark found a card that said, “Aargh, Matey!  Happy birthday!” along with a treasure map. Last hurrah in San Antonio

I haven’t written in a while because my laptop hard drive began to fail and we took it in to get backed up and have a new hard drive put in.  Unfortunately, the backup couldn’t capture everything I had on the old hard drive so I’ve been having to rebuild my computer.  The last couple days we’ve been busy seeing about the last of everything we wanted to see while we’re here, so I have pictures to share: Continue reading
