A frustrating day was had by all

This morning when we arrived at work at 6:30, we learned that our piler was down.  There is something called a Lovejoy on it which sounds like it should be a wonderful thing, but that’s what was broken.  While the mechanic worked on it we cleaned the piler and greased it until there wasn’t really anything more we could find to do on it, so we went to our cars and waited…and waited…and waited. Attitude

Thank you to all those who wrote to cheer me up from the day I had yesterday.  There was one incident I had forgotten to write about last night because I didn’t get yelled at about it yesterday.  This morning in our stand up meeting, the boss didn’t mention our piler crew, but he did mention to everyone else that someone had forgotten to take a tare sample.  That would be me. Early snow

Last night (September 2nd) Mark went out after dark and discovered that we were getting snow mixed with rain.  It must have gotten colder during the night because this morning when we opened our blinds there was a light dusting of snow on the picnic tables and some on the ground.  Everyone’s been talking about it today.  Miss Rose says she heard that this is the earliest recorded snow in Tok (or was it Alaska?) since 1925.  This is the earliest I’ve ever seen snow!

The Arctic Circle!

This morning Mark told me he didn’t sleep most of the night because of dogs barking in somebody’s back yard.  I woke up with a swollen eyelid because something bit me during the night.  Before I even got out of bed I was on my laptop looking for another place to spend tonight.  We grabbed all our stuff and were out of the tree house before anyone else was out of bed apparently.  We may not be able to get our money back for tonight at that hostel, but it’s worth it to be in a motel tonight!
