From Bozeman, MT

This morning before we broke camp, Miss Rose called to make sure we’d made it home alright.  She told me it has snowed and with heavy winds it’s nearly blizzard conditions in Tok.  I told her that it was 90 degrees yesterday in Idaho.  It was wonderful to hear from her!

We left Hayden at 10:50 this morning, caught I-90 again, and headed east.  I took pictures of Lake Coeur d’Alene as we left town.  It’s a beautiful lake.  What a place to see!

Around noon we went past historic Wallace, ID.  Wallace has the distinction of being called the “Silver Capital of the World”.  They have produced 1.2 billion ounces of silver since 1884.  Wallace is also known because every downtown building is on the National Register of Historic Places.  When the government was putting I-90 in, they had to go over the town instead of through it!  It looked like a charming town as we sped by.

I began watching for a “Welcome to Montana” sign around 1:30, but we passed it before I saw it.  It was so small, in contrast to the “Welcome to Idaho” sign in the other direction.  Fortunately we had to stop at a rest stop above it because the climb was hard on the RV and Mark wanted to give it a rest.  I got out and took a picture over the edge.

We spent much of the afternoon following Clark Fork River.  It made me wonder if there is a Lewis Fork?  There is a Lewis and Clark Forest.  I took pictures until the highway no longer followed the river.

We passed Missoula and then we made a stop at a rest stop and I got to take some “still” shots:

There was a change in the scenery, from mountains covered with pines to a more arid landscape.  I began to look more to the sky for inspiration.  The clouds were getting darker and screening the hot sun and the light plays were fascinating.  My new friend, Denise Fuller, would agree.  (She’s a whole other story!)

Around 6:00 we crossed the Continental Divide just east of Butte.  From here on out the rivers will flow east and south instead of west.

Shortly before reaching Bozeman, Dobby finally came out and sat on the dash board.  Usually he ventures out of hiding days earlier, but I think he hasn’t liked the mountains.  At least he didn’t get car sick this time!  We reached Bozeman at 8:00 Mountain Time.  We are now an hour ahead of everyone back home.

  1. Love the amazing photos, the cat (Dobby) at the end and the fact that Mark is your favorite driver.

Praying God will send me one, in His own sweet timing; driver not cat. lol

Life is so busy here in the world of law enforement. I don’t want to keep talking about retirement, but in a little over a year, I pray that I get to do what you’re doing. Gradually, day-by-day, basking in the amazing sights and sounds that He’s placed throughout the Universe.

I love that He gifted me with your friendship so that I can see, imagine, bask in and cherish His creation through your eyes. And I truly love that we are both named, Denise Fuller. 🙂

    Way cool

Prayers continue as you continue on your life’s path. Nothing is happenstance with our Lord.

Tell Mark “hello” for me 🙂
