This morning we left Bozeman KOA at 10:30. This was the last day of our journey for this job and we were both in a better mood in spite of difficulties sleeping last night. Continue reading

From Bozeman, MT
This morning before we broke camp, Miss Rose called to make sure we’d made it home alright. She told me it has snowed and with heavy winds it’s nearly blizzard conditions in Tok. I told her that it was 90 degrees yesterday in Idaho. It was wonderful to hear from her! Continue reading
Mary Minerva McCroskey State Park
We are laying over an extra day in Idaho because I wanted to see Mary Minerva McCroskey State Park which lies between Coeur d’Alene and Moscow. My maiden name is McCroskey and the man who built this park is an ancestor of mine. Here is what the brochure says about the history of the park: Continue reading

Yesterday Mark paid for a brand new tow dolly still in the box at Camping World in Burlington, WA, and they promised they’d have it ready for pick up today by noon. We ran a couple errands in Lynden and then drove down to pick up our new tow dolly. Continue reading

Today wasn’t the best day for taking pictures. We were so eager to get back to the US that we made very few stops, so mostly I just hung the camera out the window and shot at random. The weather was pretty dismal too. I had so hoped that we would get into some of that sunshine and heat we’ve been hearing about all summer down here. Continue reading
From Quesnel, BC (the “S” is silent!)
I got up early this morning and borrowed the phone in the office of the RV park we were staying in so I could call our insurance company about the broken window. We got a claim number and went to Peace Glass company, but they said it would probably be several days before they could get the glass. They said they could put a Plexiglas patch in for us, so that’s what we opted for. A young man named Daniel patched our window while we watched. Continue reading

This morning we got up a little earlier than usual and got unhooked and ready to go. I took a couple last shots of Tok RV Village with the brilliant autumn aspens. Then we drove past the office and honked to let Rose know we were leaving. 🙁 Continue reading
A series of fortunate events!
I had promised my co-worker, Kay, that I’d cover for her leaving early (her last day was Saturday the 30th) since she covered for me taking an extra day to go to Valdez. However, as I got to talking with Rose about working today, I realized that she is going to be very short-staffed tomorrow (Monday the 1st) so I offered to come in then instead. I had originally thought Mark could just attend his church while I worked today, but since I didn’t have to go to work after all I went with him this morning. Continue reading
The journey home
Generally when Mark and I travel any great distance, I read to him. It passes the time and helps him stay awake. However, there have been times when he’s commented on how much I’m missing while I read. We took the same route home today that we took to get to Valdez on Sunday, but this time I was captivated from the very start by the scenery I had missed on the way down. Continue reading
From Valdez, AK, Part 2
One of the perks of working for Rose and Mike is that they are friends with Stan Stephens and his family. Stan Stephens started a successful cruise ship business a number of years ago, and then he tried to sell it. The folks he sold it to couldn’t make a go of it, so he got the business back. Now his kids run it. Since our boss is friends with them, they let workers at Tok RV Village take the cruise for free. We’re taking an extra day off work this week for this trip, and today we got to go on the cruise. Continue reading
