Mark’s progress: Goshen, IN

It was a dark and stormy night when I reached Mark… for him, not me.  He was still driving and he was near Lake Michigan after having crossed two and a half states.  Every so often he’d say, “Wow!” and I’d know there had been another massive lightning strike like you only get in the Midwest. Mark’s progress: Manchester, TN

Mark spoke to me from Manchester, TN this evening.  He said he has finally gotten into cold weather.  I asked him if he had any stories to report and he said that at one point today, traffic was so packed together that the trailer of a semi bumped and scratched the housing for one of his side mirrors.  That’s pretty tight! God’s provision for us

We went to my church, Community Friends Church, yesterday.  In the “programmed” Friends meetings, there is a time for open worship.  This is a designated five or ten minute period of silence where people can talk about what God is doing in their lives, ask for prayer, read a passage of scripture, sing, or whatever they feel moved by the Spirit to do.  So I shared about coming to the point of thanking God that we won’t be able to come back to Wagon Trail Campground next year and that my life is in upheaval and I don’t know what He’s doing, but deciding to trust Him. A new forwarding address

A number of you sent us Christmas cards that we haven’t received yet.  We have been using the UPS Store in Bellingham, WA as our forwarding address for nearly a year.  Problem is, they weren’t forwarding our mail to us.  In the year, we might have gotten four or five mailings, if that.  I could never reach them by phone, and I could seldom reach them by email.  It has been a very frustrating experience. 2nd Annual NRVIA Conference: Day 2

This being Sunday, today began with Scripture reading and prayer.  I just can’t get over the fact that Steve and Coop are so open about this organization being built on faith in God.  How many organizations that aren’t specifically church related actually include God in the course of their business meetings?  I admire them for doing this. NRVIA training

We had an opportunity to sleep in this morning which helped considerably when we went to the training this afternoon.  The training ran from 1:00 to about 5:45 and it mostly covered stuff we had already learned about how to do an inspection report.  There have been some improvements made to the template even since we did our mock inspections this summer, so it was good to see those.  They also acknowledged some of the glitches I had been having trouble with when I did the reports from our mock inspections but didn’t seem to have fixes for those yet.   Continue reading

From Heber Springs, AR

One problem with having to be somewhere at a certain time is that you don’t have time to really stop for pictures.  Mark and I had a long push today to make it for the 2nd Annual NRVIA Conference which starts tomorrow.  Actually, tomorrow is a training for me and the conference itself starts on Saturday.  At least we get to stay in one place for a few nights, which is lovely.  It means we get to take things out of the sinks and actually use them and bump out both slide outs so that the RV feels more spacious again.   Continue reading

Workamper Fabrics

My friends and co-workers, Katherine Plahmer and Rosanne Curran, are also quilters.  Each of them has taken me to Barn Door Quilts in Sturgeon Bay.  In fact, Rosanne went to school with the owner so she introduced me to her.  I have been to a couple of quilt stores here in Door County and have hoped they’d have some fabric that typified Door County.  The closest I’ve come is cherry fabric and nautical fabric.   Continue reading
