Tomorrow, June 13th, is Mark’s and my 13th wedding anniversary. Mark is leaving in the morning to go to Florida for a BACA conference and will be gone for a week and a half, so we had to celebrate today along with other things he had to prepare for leaving.

Mark and I had a date this afternoon after church. We went out to dinner at a sushi place, although neither of us is fond of sushi. We found things on their menu that we could eat. Dinner wasn’t the part of the date either of us was particularly looking forward to. It was the movie after dinner.

It seems like every year that I have worked for H&R Block/Block Advisors, there has been a hitch in my hiring at the beginning of the season, and this year is no exception. I tried all week to get things worked out so that I could start my training and things have progressed, but as of yesterday, I still couldn’t get into my training.

Champoeg State Park was going to be full from tonight through Saturday night when Wendy first made a reservation for us this last week. I got a job!
I have applied for several jobs this week as well as the one I applied for before we left Wisconsin, but I haven’t heard back from any of them. It occurred to me today that Mark got an immediate response from UPS when he applied, so I decided to apply there too. Continue reading
Some Mom time
I have some catching up to do. I arrived in Portland on Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday morning, Mom and I were going to take her car to the garage to have some work done on it while she was gone. I got into the car I store at her place so that I could follow her, but nothing happened when I turned the key. We called AAA and the man started it and said it needed to run for an hour, so I followed her to her garage and then she did a couple of errands while I kept the car running. We stopped at a store near her home and I turned the car off and on again, but it was dead. We called AAA a second time, and this time the man sold us a new battery and installed it. Final Bridges event
Last night was the final Bridges event for the students. The first part of the evening was spent on the drive range at the golf course in Ephraim, and the last part of the evening was spent at First Baptist Church in Sister Bay where they served a Thanksgiving meal. Continue reading
2019 Block Party
Ranch Lane has an annual block party and they alternate which end of our street is having it every year. This year it was at the “dead end” of our street. Mark and I only had a short walk to get there. Continue reading
