In 1976, when my family came to Harper’s Ferry, it was dusk, but I had the impression that it was a beautiful, quaint little town. I seem destined to arrive here at dusk, but I had a very good reason for arriving at dusk this time… Continue reading

Arlington National Cemetery and Second chapter of Acts
Today was a spiritual day in many ways. I wanted to take Mark to Arlington National Cemetery today while we finally had full sun and then Denise Fuller invited me to an Acts 2 event that friends of hers had invited her to. Mark and I both had a sense of reverence all day. Continue reading
Places to go, things to do, people to see!
This morning Mark and I took the truck into downtown Washington DC to do some sightseeing. But first we had to find parking, and by then we were hungry so we had lunch. We were on 6th St a block from Independence Ave. We had a long way to go from where we parked. Continue reading
From Danbury, CT
This morning at grace, Mark prayed for the people of Paris. I am so out of touch, I had to ask him what happened in Paris. In my scripture reading today I was reading James 2:11-13… Continue reading
From Meredith, NH
It’s the story of our lives lately: Once we were parked at our campsite here in Meredith, NH, we drove half an hour south to try to see the Canterbury Shaker Village and it was closed. We had missed it by nine days. I was taking pictures from the street until I met an employee who gave us permission to walk around the grounds. We couldn’t go into the houses, but I tried taking some pictures through the windows. This day is dedicated to my sister, Sherill, who first told me about the Shakers back in the late 1970’s. Continue reading
Palmyra, NY
This is the part of the trip Mark has been looking forward to. We have been working chronologically backward through his church history. A couple years ago we visited Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Last Spring we visited Nauvoo, IL where Joseph Smith was killed. Today we visited Palmyra, NY where Joseph Smith reportedly had his vision and received the golden plates. Continue reading
MCC and Gettysburg
This morning Mark and I headed to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) where Sue was going to show us around. On our way, we noticed that many on the homes had clothes hanging on clotheslines. Apparently, Mondays are wash days. Continue reading
All Saints Day
Because we arrived at this campground last night in the midst of their Halloween activities we didn’t get a chance to actually get registered. So this morning before church we went to the office. It was closed and a man who was working outside said that they didn’t open till 9:00 AM. I had thought it was 9:00 so I looked at him quizzically and he said, “The time changed last night.” Ah! Being on the road I hadn’t kept up with when the time change was going to happen. We came back an hour later and completed our registration. Continue reading
2nd Annual NRVIA Conference: Day 2
This being Sunday, today began with Scripture reading and prayer. I just can’t get over the fact that Steve and Coop are so open about this organization being built on faith in God. How many organizations that aren’t specifically church related actually include God in the course of their business meetings? I admire them for doing this. Continue reading
2nd Annual NRVIA Conference: Day 1
We all arrived at 8:00 this morning to the Heber Springs Community Center where the conference is being held. The doors weren’t open yet so we all mingled in the hallways and looked at the vendor tables. They finally opened the doors around 8:45 and I found a table near the front so I could see without a lot of heads in my way. Continue reading
