A time and a place

For any of you who are close enough to come to Sherill’s memorial service, we now have confirmation that the service will be at West Hills Covenant Church (5815 SW Gillcrest Ct, Portland, OR 97221) at 3:30 this Sunday afternoon.  There will be a reception following with an open mike time for any who may want to briefly share thoughts or stories about Sherill. R.I.P. Sherill!

This morning I was taking a shower and had just wrapped a towel around myself when Fred walked in with the phone and told me there was an important phone call for me.  I took the phone and a man said, “Hello, Denise!  I’m Officer Seigler from the King City Police.  I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but your sister died this morning.”  When I hung up, I told Fred and he burst into tears.  The whole family met at the rehab center and sat with Sherill’s body until the undertaker came to take her away.  We were all in shock.  It has been a rough day, but I want to dedicate the rest of this post to Sherill’s memory. Camp Zion

The newest neighbors on my block are Christians, and the husband, Matthew, works at Camp Zion.  I’ve been talking with his wife, Hannah, about it and had a desire to see it myself, thinking perhaps the kids at my church would like to go to camp there.  Today I called Dale and Carol, the managers of the camp to ask if I could come, get a tour, and take pictures and they said yes.  I brought Tucson thinking I’d leave her in the truck while I looked around, but they welcomed her as well.
