Job hunting, day three

This morning I remembered that when I was here during the summer I had learned that the local mall, Washington Square, has a website where all the stores list their job openings.  I went there and ran down the list looking for any that said they had seasonal openings.  I came up with a list of nine stores that were looking for someone on a seasonal basis.  I printed up ten copies of my resume and hit the mall…

Job hunting

Now that we have settled into the campground near Mom, it’s time to look for work.  Mark came knowing that he will be working at UPS for the Christmas season.  We were both hoping to be working by Monday, October 31st, but we found out this morning that his job won’t start till November 14th.  That leaves me to come up with something quick.

New glasses

Today Mark took me to Sturgeon Bay to pick up my new glasses.  You may recall that my old glasses got badly scratched when I had my bicycle accident several weeks ago.  I’ve been using my long distance glasses for the last several weeks, but I’ve been going nuts and getting headaches trying to see anything around the distance of my laptop screen.  Mark took pictures of this momentous occasion:

God’s provision for us

We went to my church, Community Friends Church, yesterday.  In the “programmed” Friends meetings, there is a time for open worship.  This is a designated five or ten minute period of silence where people can talk about what God is doing in their lives, ask for prayer, read a passage of scripture, sing, or whatever they feel moved by the Spirit to do.  So I shared about coming to the point of thanking God that we won’t be able to come back to Wagon Trail Campground next year and that my life is in upheaval and I don’t know what He’s doing, but deciding to trust Him. The Sound of Music

On April 29, 2015, Mark and I were driving to Wagon Trail Campground for the first time.  We were a little bit scared.  We had had a number of Workamping jobs where either the boss didn’t like us or our co-workers didn’t like us or both.  We prayed as we passed the Welcome to Door County sign that this would be a good situation for us.  God surpassed all that we could think or imagine.  Wagon Trail Campground is gorgeous, as you well know from my blogs and pictures, and our bosses and co-workers have become like family.  I thought we’d be coming back here for as long as our bodies could hold up. We’re certified!

Our boss is the greatest!  Kathy paid for everyone on staff who wanted to to get trained as a Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA).  Mark and I went through the training today at The Clearing in Ellison Bay.  But first, a woman from The Clearing gave us a tour of the campus. Continue reading

One day Bible conference

Shortly before we left Florida I got an email from Our Daily Bread Ministries saying they were going to be putting on a one day Bible Conference in Detroit, MI on April 30th and it was only going to cost $10 per person to cover a box lunch.  It was on our way, it was at the right time, and the price was right.  Who could pass up such an offer?
