New glasses

Today Mark took me to Sturgeon Bay to pick up my new glasses.  You may recall that my old glasses got badly scratched when I had my bicycle accident several weeks ago.  I’ve been using my long distance glasses for the last several weeks, but I’ve been going nuts and getting headaches trying to see anything around the distance of my laptop screen.  Mark took pictures of this momentous occasion:

This is what I look like today. You can still see the scars on the bridge of my nose, and this picture doesn't show it well, but there are still scars on my upper lip as well.

These are the old glasses with the scratches. If I hadn't been wearing my glasses, the scratches would have been on my eyes. Thank You, Lord!

The final test: Can I read with them. Yes, I can!

I remember when I got my first pair of glasses in fourth grade, Mom had to help me out of the eye doctor’s office and down the stairs because everything looked so different to me.  I had that same sense when I walked out of the doctor’s office today after wearing my long distance glasses for several weeks.  I had to hold Mark’s arm as we crossed the street.  It’s a whole new world out there!

On our way home I asked Mark if we could stop by the condos I’ll be working at next summer so I could take pictures:

I was told that I’ll be working with a team of four or five other housekeepers.  We’ll all be working on each condo together and knocking them out.  My hours will be 9:00-4:00 six days a week.  I’ll be carrying equipment up and down stairs.  The head of housekeeping for the hotel tried to entice me by saying the work there is easier and I’d get two days off a week, but the head of housekeeping for the condos said she’d give me Sundays off and that is more important to me.

We stopped in at another campground today but they don’t have a place we can stay.  We’re still hoping a seasonal site in the Fish Creek Campground will open up for us for next year.  Mark says it’s about a mile from my job.  That would be great for commuting.  I could ride my bicycle since Mark will need the truck for his business.  Those of you who are so inclined, please pray that God will help us get a place there for next summer.  We should know by sometime next month.
