Yesterday Mark and I left the San Antonio area and spent the night in Port Aransas, an island just off the coast of Corpus Christi. It was a typical beach town, but we were in a tightly packed RV park away from the beach. I was uninspired there, but I took a few pictures. Continue reading

Last hurrah in San Antonio
I haven’t written in a while because my laptop hard drive began to fail and we took it in to get backed up and have a new hard drive put in. Unfortunately, the backup couldn’t capture everything I had on the old hard drive so I’ve been having to rebuild my computer. The last couple days we’ve been busy seeing about the last of everything we wanted to see while we’re here, so I have pictures to share: Continue reading
Gruene (pronounced Green), TX
This morning we took the Harley and the truck to Camping World in New Braunfels. We left the truck there to be set up so we can tow it behind the RV. Tomorrow we’ll take the RV so they can install something in it that will coincide with what they put in the truck today. Continue reading
Happy Valentines Day!
I have always thought it would be romantic to take a horse-drawn carriage ride, and apparently a number of other people thought so too. Mark and I made a dress-up date for tonight to go into San Antonio and take a horse-drawn carriage tour of the city. Traffic was congested and we waited in line for nearly two hours, but we finally got our romantic ride in a Cinderella carriage! Here are some pictures from this evening: Continue reading
No such thing as a free dinner?
Yesterday when we were walking around the River Walk, we went up to what we thought was an information booth to ask directions. Turns out it was a Wyndham “Welcome Center”, which means we got pressured to go to a sales pitch today about Wyndham Club membership in exchange for free dinner at the Chart House on the top of the Tower of the Americas. We managed to stand firm in not buying into a time share and had a lovely dinner. Here are our pics: Continue reading
Being tourists
This morning I had my annual physical in San Antonio, so since we were in town anyway we decided to see the first sights on my list of things to do. Continue reading
Moving day
We extended our stay in Kerrville for all of last week to try to get things set up so we could get the Harley into our new truck. We still don’t have a tow bar for the truck, but today we left Kerrville behind us with Mark driving the RV and me driving the truck with the Harley in it. Continue reading
An honest used car salesman
That sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? You never hear about honest used car salesmen. Mark and I encountered one this week. Here’s the story: Continue reading
Mark’s present to himself
Two and a half years ago when we sold all our possessions and walked away from our stick-and-brick house, Mark gave up his beloved Harley. He hasn’t been the same since. Recently he saw a bike online that he really liked so he put a couple hundred dollars down on it. The bike was in Dallas so we went up there last weekend to get it, but our plans were thwarted. They offered to send the bike down to Austin this week so we could try again to get it. My cousin, Dan Brim, sent our leathers and helmets from Lynden, WA. They arrived in San Antonio yesterday when we went to the office, so today we went to Austin prepared to pick up the bike. Continue reading
Movers and shakers
We knew when we got up this morning that it was going to be a busy day, but it was even busier than we originally thought it was going to be. Continue reading
