Yesterday morning, Mark and I went down to Green Bay where he had a doctor’s appointment at the VA. There was snow on the ground! Continue reading

Victorian Wedding Exhibit
I happened to have my camera with me at the Noble House today, and there was so much light streaming in the windows, I decided to take some pictures during a quiet moment. We are doing an exhibit of Victorian weddings this year. I am not going to show or tell everything I say during my tours because I want to give my mother the tour when she comes here at the end of October. I don’t want her to bow out because I’ve already told it all! 😉 Continue reading
Northport
I was on the phone this afternoon when I heard a small tap at my door. Through the window, I could see Merih and Kader. I let them in and they patiently waited until I got off the phone. When I did… Continue reading
2019 Block Party
Ranch Lane has an annual block party and they alternate which end of our street is having it every year. This year it was at the “dead end” of our street. Mark and I only had a short walk to get there. Continue reading
Trying to get Amtrak reservations
I have persuaded my mother to come out to Door County for a visit, but she is afraid to fly and she doesn’t like to travel alone, so I am going to fly out at the end of October and we are planning to take a train back here. Making train reservations has taken us twenty-four hours of frustration! Continue reading
Do you remember where you were a year ago today?
Exactly one year ago today, my family was gathered at the care facility where my sister, Sherill, had just died. I have been calling each member of the family in the last couple of days to ask what changes they’ve noticed since Sherill has been gone, or what they miss the most about her. Continue reading
Quilting for charity
Today was a wonderful day for me. I got to spend almost the whole day with the Trillium Quilt Guild, and this evening I had a surprise visit. More on that later. Continue reading
“You’re perfect, Mark!”
Checking back in my blogs, it was July 17th when Mark and Merih bought a used car for Merih. However, the car needed a bunch of work on it. Mark has been spending evenings and weekends on it, and a couple of times on his day off, Merih has come over to help. It was obvious last time, though, that Merih was beginning to give up hope of ever getting to drive it this summer. Continue reading
Happy birthday, Kader!
Today is Kader’s twenty-first birthday. I managed to get tickets to a play so that we could take her tonight. First, at Merih’s invitation, we took her to dinner in the bar at Sister Bay Bowl. That’s where he works and he wanted to serve us. We sat facing the bowling alley and enjoyed watching people of all ages play.
A little bit of catch-up
First, some news about my pastor, Nancy. I believe I had last told you that she was not going to have a mastectomy. That was the news she told us all when she sent a phone call out to the church. Ten minutes later, the oncologist called her and told her that not only was that still a possibility, but the doctor wanted her to have a port put in to start a sixteen-week course of chemo. My pastor was too devastated to call back. Continue reading
