There were two very good reasons why Mark chose to go the northern route across the country this time: 1) We were leaving Wisconsin five days later than we had hoped and this is the shorter, more direct route, and 2) in looking ahead at the weather report across the country for this week, it showed rain but no snow.

The cone of shame!
I guess I haven’t mentioned yet that we ended up keeping Tucson. I had gotten a call from a neighbor saying that she’d heard of someone who might be interested in meeting Tucson, so I was getting all set to get rid of her, but Mark was really depressed. He loves her. To his credit, he wasn’t going to stop me from giving her away after what she did to me, but he was miserable. I finally told him if he can take her to work with him and everywhere else he goes, he can keep her. He took the passenger seat out of his work truck to accommodate her and he has been good at taking full responsibility for her. Continue reading

Montana is a long state! I think we left Missoula at about 9:15 MT this morning, and we didn’t get to the eastern border until 6:00 this evening. Somewhere in North Dakota, we crossed into the Central time zone to arrive at our hotel around 9:30 CT. Of course, we made a few stops along the route.
Home again
I actually returned home late Tuesday night, but this is the first time I’ve had a chance to sit down and write since I got back. I am at my own computer now, so I have an opportunity to send the pictures I took while I was gone. Continue reading
Through the woods
I have known for a while that there is a snow mobile trail in the woods behind Lynn’s and Karen’s house, but I had never ventured far enough onto their property to find it. Yesterday, Lynn and her dog, Sasha, took Tucson and me for a walk there and I discovered that the trail led to the field behind the fire station where I work. This morning, I decided to walk to work. Continue reading
HOME, SWEET HOME!
Mark and I could feel our excitement rising throughout the day today as we got closer and closer to home. Even when I had a migraine, I was glad to be back in familiar territory, and Mark was positively giddy! Tucson was every bit as happy as we’d been hoping all along she’d be. I guess the cats were happy too, but they were too suave to show it. Continue reading

Weather reports lie! The reason Mark and I drove to Denver last night was because the weather forecast said temperatures would remain above freezing, but when we got up this morning, it was snowing. It wasn’t sticking to the ground, but it was piling up on cars and such. Mark said it had been snowing each of the two times he got up with Tucson during the night. When we left Denver at 10:15 this morning, it was 35° out. Continue reading
From Denver, CO
The weather was the big news today. We left Albuquerque at 10:15 this morning and the temperature was 56°. We had planned to head for Falcon, Colorado today and skirt around Denver, but when we checked the forecast for both locations, Denver was at least going to be above freezing tonight. At one point today, we almost despaired of getting here. Continue reading

We left Tucson, AZ — after having gotten air in the RV tires and gas in the pickup — around 10:45 this morning. The temperature was 78°. It has not been one of our better days… Continue reading
