Today is Mark’s 61st birthday. Want to know how to plan a perfect birthday? You have to know the birthday recipient very well – all his wishes, his likes – and then you have to think of a way give him everything he could wish for. That’s why at the breakfast table Mark found a card that said, “Aargh, Matey! Happy birthday!” along with a treasure map. Continue reading
Last hurrah in San Antonio
I haven’t written in a while because my laptop hard drive began to fail and we took it in to get backed up and have a new hard drive put in. Unfortunately, the backup couldn’t capture everything I had on the old hard drive so I’ve been having to rebuild my computer. The last couple days we’ve been busy seeing about the last of everything we wanted to see while we’re here, so I have pictures to share: Continue reading
Still praying? Part II
My friend, Denise Fuller, gave me a heads up on a partial answer to prayer. I have been looking online for confirmation of this story and there’s not much yet, but here is a report from the BBC:
Still praying?

Calling all Christians everywhere…
I am using my blog today to ask all believers to help me. I have been, as I’m sure many of you have, horrified by what ISIS is doing. Now they have captured a large number of Christians and I feel we should be doing something about it, so I am asking you to reach out with me and spread this blog to as many Christians as you know. Mike and Cindy
When Mark and I were working in Alaska last summer, we were working for Mike Jernigan and his parents. Towards the end of the summer Mike’s fiancé, Cindy, came to spend a week with him and the moment she saw me she recognized me from high school! Continue reading

This afternoon Mark finished calibrating my bicycle odometer and we took our bikes out for a trial run. Continue reading
New bike!
Just a quickie to brag on what my husband did tonight: He bought me a new bicycle because I’ve been trying to get more active and get in shape again. I’ve been doing a fair amount of walking since I’ve gotten my SparkPeople Activity Tracker, but it will track bicycling too. Plus, Mark got me an odometer that tracks calories burned and distance and stuff like that. He is so supportive of my desire to become fit again!
Happy Valentines Day!
I have always thought it would be romantic to take a horse-drawn carriage ride, and apparently a number of other people thought so too. Mark and I made a dress-up date for tonight to go into San Antonio and take a horse-drawn carriage tour of the city. Traffic was congested and we waited in line for nearly two hours, but we finally got our romantic ride in a Cinderella carriage! Here are some pictures from this evening: Continue reading
