We have been so busy since we’ve been home – trying to move back into the house, getting Ashton set up in our RV, and getting all the stuff we moved back into the house put away – that I haven’t had much time to write, so this will just be a quick message.

Biking along the Rillito River
Two or three weeks ago, Mark was working at a campground and he pulled into an empty lot across the street from the campground to let Tucson do her business. She started wandering out into the desert and he followed her. Something caught his eye so he walked over to see what it was and found a recumbent tricycle in pretty good condition lying out there. It needed some repairs to the seat covers, both the seat and the seat back, but other than that, it was usable. He brought it home and we fixed it up. Ever since then, he’s been wanting to go on a bike ride with me. Continue reading
End of week wrap up
I rode to the third stop light again this morning, and though my legs felt a little loose, I was doing slightly better than yesterday. Thank you all for your encouragement! Continue reading
The third stoplight!
Mark and I went to the weekly breakfast at church this morning so I ate French toast with syrup, bacon, a banana and a thin slice of cantaloupe, and had a glass of orange juice. I was stoked for my bicycle ride this morning… Continue reading
A little progress
Mark and I again agreed to meet at the second light today because I didn’t feel I’d done very well yesterday. Continue reading
Bicycling to the second stoplight
So many of you congratulated me on reaching the first stoplight on my bicycle yesterday that I feel compelled to briefly tell you about my attempt to ride to the second stoplight this morning. As I said before, it was mostly downhill to the first stoplight, but not so to the second stoplight. I had to do more pedaling and go over a few humps. I was tired by the time I caught up with Mark ten minutes after he arrived at our meeting place. I told him I’ll meet him there again tomorrow and perhaps the rest of the week until I get stronger. My legs felt like rubber when I got off my bike. I’ll get better, but I need to take it slowly at first.
Biking to work
Several of you have commented on my plan to bicycle to work. This morning I headed off early to bike to the first stoplight. It felt like it was eight or ten blocks from where we live, but it may have been less. I didn’t count. Continue reading
Trial run
This afternoon Mark finished calibrating my bicycle odometer and we took our bikes out for a trial run. Continue reading
New bike!
Just a quickie to brag on what my husband did tonight: He bought me a new bicycle because I’ve been trying to get more active and get in shape again. I’ve been doing a fair amount of walking since I’ve gotten my SparkPeople Activity Tracker, but it will track bicycling too. Plus, Mark got me an odometer that tracks calories burned and distance and stuff like that. He is so supportive of my desire to become fit again!
