When I chose Edisto Island to spend several days at, it was because of its proximity to two other locations. We are half way between Charleston and Hilton Head, SC. Mark and I went to explore the mountain today. We decided to be really daring and buy a one-way ticket for the sky tram to the top of the mountain. There is a trail that people can take in either direction or both. We weren’t daring enough to try both! Continue reading

I tried to suggest a different order to our travel today. We were going to be traveling through Colonial Williamsburg on our way to our campsite, so I suggested we stop there with RV and all. Sometimes dreams really do come true! When I was in high school, a friend of mine and I got our hands on a road atlas and began dreaming about taking a trip around the country. One place I desperately wanted go was Portland, Maine so that I could say I’d been to Portland’s on both sides of the country. Today I fulfilled that dream, in a manner of speaking. But my sister, Sherill, had also advised me on other places in Maine to see. We sort of got to do that. Continue reading
This morning we touched three states before noon. If only we’d been going in the right direction! We wanted to avoid taking the toll road that runs across Pennsylvania, so I thought I programmed our first stop in Morgantown, WV. What I actually clicked on was Morgantown, KY. There ought to be a law that states can’t use the same names for their towns! We figured out our mistake when we hit Ohio again and we turned around, but by the time we got back to our starting point in Washington, PA, it was already 12:30 pm. Continue reading
I’m writing this the morning after we arrived in Tennessee because we were out last evening. After missing turns and being stuck in rush hour traffic, we found our KOA and parked the RV, then unhooked the truck and drove into Nashville. We got a really late start today, plus the fact that we needed to stop for groceries in Sturgeon Bay, so we entered Illinois in the dark. We got to the campground we were hoping to stay in and at first we saw a closed sign and were afraid we were too late. Fortunately we found out that only the Burnidge Forest Preserve was closed but the campground was still open. We were so grateful! Continue reading
