Workamper Fabrics

My friends and co-workers, Katherine Plahmer and Rosanne Curran, are also quilters.  Each of them has taken me to Barn Door Quilts in Sturgeon Bay.  In fact, Rosanne went to school with the owner so she introduced me to her.  I have been to a couple of quilt stores here in Door County and have hoped they’d have some fabric that typified Door County.  The closest I’ve come is cherry fabric and nautical fabric.   Continue reading

Quilt show

Kathy watches out for me!  Yesterday she told me that the Corner of the Past and the Old Anderson House Museum was having a quilt show because she knows I like to quilt.  I didn’t end up making it there yesterday and I thought I’d missed my chance, but Katherine watches out for me too.  I saw her in the bathroom this morning and she told me it was on today as well.  As soon as Mark and I finished with morning rounds we headed to the museum in Sister Bay. The best laid plans…

Today was to have been our touring day and we loaded our bicycles on the back of the truck, but we never got “a round tuit”.  We did, however, take pictures of various stops we made on our way to and from the VA in Green Bay.  Here are today’s pictures… Continue reading

A-liners

This weekend we have a group of A-liners staying at Wagon Trail Campground.  They’re having an A-liner rally.  They’ve been coming in throughout the week, but today most of the rest of them arrived.  “What is an A-liner?” you might be asking yourself.  I grabbed a picture off Google images to show you: Continue reading

Car show

Yesterday (Saturday) Mark and I had an inkling that the bathrooms were going to be full when we did our morning rounds, so we started half an hour earlier.  The bathrooms were crowded and we were barely able to do our job, so this morning we tried going in at 7:00.  They were still crowded, and Mark and I were both dragging all day from lack of sleep.  We have finally decided that there’s no beating the mad rush for the showers, so from now on we’ll stick to checking at 8:00 just deal with the crowds as best we can. Mark’s present to himself

Two and a half years ago when we sold all our possessions and walked away from our stick-and-brick house, Mark gave up his beloved Harley.  He hasn’t been the same since.  Recently he saw a bike online that he really liked so he put a couple hundred dollars down on it.  The bike was in Dallas so we went up there last weekend to get it, but our plans were thwarted.  They offered to send the bike down to Austin this week so we could try again to get it.  My cousin, Dan Brim, sent our leathers and helmets from Lynden, WA.  They arrived in San Antonio yesterday when we went to the office, so today we went to Austin prepared to pick up the bike.
