I have been working, lately, on Christmas gifts. Today I finished the project I was working on and still had most of the afternoon before time to go to work, so I started decorating for Christmas. While I was working inside, Mark was cutting up that tree that fell across the road from our place last weekend. I have pictures: Continue reading

Highway patrol
Four times a year, there’s a day when all those Adopt-a-highway people are supposed to go out and clean their section of highway. Today was the day here. Workampers from the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club are responsible for cleaning Skyline Blvd one mile in each direction from our driveway. I was looking forward to helping with it, but I Continue reading
A hike in the woods
Right next to the entrance to our place is a road to Castle Rock State Park, of which we are part. One of the responsibilities of workampers up here is to walk down there periodically and pick up any garbage we may see. Today, Mark and I took the hike. Continue reading
Labor Day
Happy Labor Day to everyone! We labored on Labor Day, but we got to mix pleasure with business. There was a barbecue to which all the employees were invited. This would have been a day off for us, but Mark and Adam traded off sitting in the tower all day making sure everyone stayed safe on the ranges. Mark invited me to sit in the tower with him and see what he does. It was interesting. Continue reading
Fulltiming in an RV
We had a whole day off, and how did we spend it? Well, Mark has been trying to fix our heating and cooling, and this weekend (as in Monday and Tuesday) he has it all torn apart. Club Workamper, to which we belong, now has an online parts store, so we looked up how much it would cost to just replace the unit that is having problems. It’s Continue reading
Ready for women’s competition? Maybe soon.
Friendly folks
Today I had a check I needed to cash. Mark and I both belong to credit unions, and apparently there are no credit unions in Saratoga, but when I checked online I found one in Los Gatos. I couldn’t find either of our GPS’s, so I came up with what seemed like a pretty good idea. We needed a few groceries down below and there is one Continue reading
Laundry room remodel
This was supposed to be the first day of our weekend, but Mark and Adam started out the day by pulling the washing machine and dryer and the old carpet out of our laundry room. That carpet has been the bane of my efforts to clean because any time I vacuumed near the edges, long strands of carpeting would get stuck in the roller under the vacuum cleaner and make it stop. Continue reading
Beginner’s luck!
Today was another day off in paradise. Mark and Adam wanted to go shooting this morning since no customers or members were here. Beth and I also joined them. Adam trained me how to set up and pull the trap for them that throws out a clay “pigeon” (which looks more like a clay Frisbee) for he and Mark to shoot Continue reading
Monterey
One of the Workampers here, Lee, has her son and 2 young grandchildren visiting, so she invited everyone to come with them to the aquarium in Monterey. Her car was full of family, and Joe and Glenda drive a pickup truck, so we convoyed there with three cars. (Adam and Beth couldn’t make it.) Continue reading
